Activities
SPSUACE is one of the biggest higher education establishments in the country that along with educational activities carries out scientific, scientific-technical and innovational developments. The university is the leading scientific centre which has undertaken research works on fundamental and applied problems of architecture, urban and road construction, automobile transport, ecology, heat- and water supply, economics, management, and other issues and directions of modern science. The rich traditions, highly-qualified specialists, modern material and technical base - all these things enable the SPSUACE to carry out scientific and project-production activities on a high professional level. The running of all kinds of these activities is implemented under the supervision of Pro-Rector for Scientific Research and Innovations, DSc, Professor V.I.Morozov. Scientific-Research and Innovation Committee headed by Professor V.I.Morozov initiates and organizes scientific-research activities at the University. At present, the SPSUACE has become one of the leading scientific-analytical centres of its profile in the North-West region. Scientific-research work is being carried out in the fields of applied and humanitarian science and construction practically in all directions. They cover the whole range of production processes - from concept creation up to its practical implementation and exploitation of buildings, with investments being made of the advanced scientific ideas into the educational process. Scientific-research and innovation activities are aimed at fundamental and applied field research development, creating productions with great scientific capacity, modern production needs satisfaction, educational system perfection. A close alliance between science and education is a necessary provision for training highly qualified specialists. Important elements of the innovation infrastructure of the University are: Scientific-Technical Council; Scientific-Technical Library which is a treasury of modern scientific-technical literature and rarities; basic chairs and scientific research laboratories.
The University participates in the following activities:
• International, federal, regional and branch innovation programmes and projects • Fundamental research investigations (Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, Russian Fund for Basic Research, etc.) • Annual and periodical conferences, seminars, and round tables held in various actual problems of modern science. • Competitions the winners of which are awarded grants in fundamental research in the field of natural and technical sciences • Implementing different orders from enterprises and organizations, equities and individuals on the basis of agreements Annual and periodical conferences, seminars and round tables are held where actual problems of modern science and technology are discussed. Practical results of scientific research and developments made by the University staff in the field of housing construction have been widely applied in Russia and abroad.
There are some significant scientific achievements which have been attained by the University for the last three years: • Research methodology which can be applied in investigating structures` behaviour during seismic vibrations wherein actual earth quakes were imitated having different frequencies. This methodology is applicable in designing and calculating projects of buildings and structures; • Theory and methodology of anthropogenic effect on ecological state of water and air basins of big cities; • Information support in calculations of thin casing structures taking into account non- linear factors; • Plasticizering admixtures for using in concrete mixtures and building mortars which have been developed by nanotechnology; • New technology of erecting bearing structures in soil; • New methodological system for implementing regeneration of post-industrial landscape; • A complex of physics-mathematics models showing process of interaction of buildings with wind flows, turbulence diffusion, ecological regulation; • Analysis of management effectiveness in running real estate property of university complexes; • Method of calculation of eutrophication rate in water systems; • Territorial construction regulations “Housing and social multi-storey buildings” TSN 31-332-2006.
