"City: Open the future"

International competition of applied projects of young scientists and specialists

As part of the XIV Eurasian Economic Youth Forum, the International Competition of Applied Projects of Young Scientists and Specialists “City: Open the Future” is taking place. The competition is held by the Ural State University of Economics.

The purpose of the competition is to develop analytical, managerial, research, and creative competencies and to assist in the implementation of initiatives of young specialists in the field of forecasting and strategic planning of urban development.

Directions of the competition

City of the future: comfortable. Creation of a comfortable urban environment; formation of city infrastructure; development of the city's transport system; efficient and rational use of urban land; planning structure of the city of the future; rational use of undeveloped land within the city.

City of the future: environmentally friendly. Environmental safety of the city; creating an environmentally friendly urban environment; improvement of the urban environment; reduction of noise pollution in the city; restoration and improvement of natural sites of cities.

City of the future: attractive. Improvement of urban areas, landscaping of the city; what is the city today and tomorrow?; optimal city; post-industrial transformation of cities; ensuring the quality and accessibility of municipal services; sustainable development of the city.

City of the future: safe. Formation of a safe and tolerant urban environment; formation of mechanisms for creating a clean and safe city; improving the quality and ensuring the safety of life for citizens; issues of creating a safe living environment.

City of the future: creative. City branding, city image; creative industry of the city; cultural worldview in urban development.

City of the future: technologically advanced. New technologies or smart urban technologies; smart city; city of high technologies; environmental conservation, energy saving, waste recycling and innovative technologies in urban construction.

The winners and runners-up of the competition will be awarded diplomas and cash prizes:

  • first place – 15,000 rubles;
  • second place – 10,000 rubles;
  • third place – 5000 rubles.

The competition is open to students, PhD students, academic degree applicants, young researchers from universities, academic institutions in Russia and the CIS countries, as well as employees of other interested organizations aged 18 to 25.

Projects for the competition can be submitted individually or from a team of up to five people.

Please submit applications for participation in the competition and competition works by 20 March, 2024 through the registration system.
