International Philosophy Olympiad for Students

The Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, on behalf of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, is holding the International Philosophy Olympiad for Students in 2024.

The Olympiad is held in honor of the 300th anniversary of Immanuel Kant's birth to popularize philosophical knowledge, to generate interest among young people in classical and modern philosophical issues, in Kant's legacy and its role in world and Russian culture, to promote the development of critical thinking skills, and to promote the ideas of cultural and civilizational diversity. The Olympiad will also contribute to increasing the global competitiveness of Russian education, popularizing the Russian language, Russian philosophy and culture at the international level.

The topics of the tasks are divided as follows:

  • the legacy of I. Kant in Russia;
  • I. Kant and critical thinking;
  • I. Kant and moral philosophy;
  • I. Kant and philosophical anthropology;
  • I. Kant and the philosophy of consciousness;
  • I. Kant and philosophical theology.

To participate in the Olympiad, you must complete the registration procedure and fill out the participant form on the official website of the Olympiad by 19 September.

The first stage of the Olympiad will be held remotely. The second stage will be held on 26–28 November in person at the IKBFU. The award ceremony will take place on 29 November.
