The autonomous non-profit organization "Center for the Development of Innovative Technologies IT-Planet" together with the Russian developer "SberTech" is holding a competition for open system software Open OS Challenge 2024 for professionals and amateurs in the field of system programming.
The competition is aimed at popularizing the use and development of open system components that are the basis for operating systems based on GNU and Linux Kernel components in Russia, as well as identifying and supporting capable and practically trained students and graduates.
The competition program includes three stages, during which participants will test their theoretical and practical knowledge in system programming for Linux-based operating systems:
- from 15.08.2024 to 22.09.2024: registration and the first stage in the online testing format;
- from 28.09.2024 to 29.09.2024: the second online stage of the competition, where participants will have to solve problems in system programming;
- from 26.10.2024 to 27.10.2024, the in-person final of the competition, where the winners will be determined.
The competition is open to both professional engineers and programmers who actively use open source in their work, as well as amateurs, enthusiasts and students over 18 years of age studying system programming and administration based on Linux, citizens of the Russian Federation.
The top five participants will have the opportunity to travel to China in December to the world's largest open source event, the OpenAtom Developer Conference.
The winners of the competition will be awarded valuable prizes: 400,000 rubles for first place, 300,000 rubles for second place and 200,000 rubles for third place. Participants who take 4th and 5th places will receive incentive prizes of 50,000 rubles each.
