SPbGASU summed up the results of the qualifying championship on WorldSkills Russia standards

On May 27, St Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering summed up the results of the qualifying championship of the university on Worldskills Russia standards. The winners will represent the university in the regional semifinal of the WorldSkills Russia interuniversity championship, and if succeed, in the final of the national championship. In total, the jury selected 30 winners.

The winners of the WorldSkills Russia qualifying championship, who will represent SPbGASU at the next stage: Daria Tsyplakova, Khachik Yeritsyan, Aleksandra Ershova, Ekaterina Shevtsova, Ivan Maslov, Maria Khmelnitskaya, Igor Rogal and Olga Gritsenko

For the first time, SPbGASU takes part in the championship of professional skills according to world standards. The competitions were held in five competencies and brought together more than a hundred students and experts.

The championship is distinguished by a special vision of the competition process: participants work on cases after listening to expert lectures, but make decisions on their own. Representatives of partner companies not only evaluate students work, but also analyze their mistakes and distinguish achievements. It is this interaction of educational and industry initiatives, according to the organizers, that helps to bring up competent specialists.

“SPbGASU is a brand that is 190 years old. We are working for the labour market, so that our graduates are in demand. Therefore, cooperation with construction companies is very important for us. Full-fledged, high-quality training of future specialists is possible only in cooperation with industry professionals,” said Marina Malyutina, head of the SPbGASU Division for study administration.

“The tasks were difficult, but nobody got confused. The students did all right. They gained new knowledge, perceived what they lack,” says Inna Sukhanova, Dean of the Faculty of environmental engineering and municipal services.

The team, which included a fourth-year bachelor student of the Faculty of environmental engineering and municipal services Ivan Maslov, took first place in the Engineering Design competency. According to Ivan, the championship develops the ability to work in a team and make quick decisions.

Daria Tsyplakova, a third-year bachelor student of the Faculty of civil engineering, has taken part in the Engineering Design competency and won first place as part of her team. “Although the task was very voluminous, we managed to handle it; the impressions from the participation were the most positive,” said Daria.

The team of a fourth-year bachelor student of the Faculty of civil engineering Olga Gritsenko and a fourth-year bachelor student of the FEE&MS Ekaterina Shevtsova became the first in the BIM Information Modeling Technologies competency. According to Olga, the championship helped her to clearly see the current level of her skills. “It's a great benchmark,” she says.

Aleksandra Ershova, a third-year bachelor student at the Faculty of economics and management, won first place in the Budgeting Competence. Aleksandra said that the championship became an experience for her, a search for herself, and it was very interesting to complete the tasks.

The team, in which Diana Zaichikova, a third-year bachelor student of the FEE&MS, worked, became the first in the Geospatial Technologies competency. The student emphasizes that she has gained experience in resolving non-standard situations, the skill of working with modern geodesic instruments.

The championship experts – representatives of partner companies, technical specialists, heads of departments – assessed the students works, analyzed their mistakes, noted achievements and wished them further professional growth.
