1st International scientific conference “Project Management” started at SPbGASU. Participants from Russia, Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Austria, Togo, Switzerland, Estonia and Saudi Arabia gathered in Saint Petersburg to talk about current issues on project management and exchange experience.

Though project management is quite a new profession the interest to it deepens and the specialists become more sought-after. Both experienced professionals and beginners take part in the conference. Aleksandr Tovb, President of National Project Management Association SOVNET, thinks that to succeed one needs not only knowledge but also fertile imagination and creativity.
I wish bright ideas and inspiration to every participant. You may find an original solution to a task right now. It is no surprise that the conference is held in Saint Petersburg – one of the major 12 projects of modern civilization, as it was described by David Cleland (American engineer, professor, one of the fathers of project management)
Prospective project manager has to learn not only lots of disciplines dealing with particular tasks but also psychology; they need to be tactician and strategist, diplomat, adviser and crisis manager at the same time. Famous speakers have provided numerous examples from their experience when presenting a report.
Project managers surely have to maintain certain standards. Aleksey Polovnikov, Chief Executive Officer of National Project Management Association SOVNET, have told about their variants, differences, and ways to cope with them at work:
Practice is number one concern at any level, from an enterprise to a country. Generalization of experience and standard development are based on long-term experience in application of a certain methodology. Then goes standard adaptation to a particular case or project. We are to choose methodologies and apply them practically.
The conference works for three days.
