“As you know, starting from the new year, all projects under the state order should be presented in the form of information models. We strive to keep up with global trends and meet the requirements set by the country's management for the construction industry. Curricula have been adjusted at the university - they include the study of disciplines related to information modeling. Events are regularly held to improve the level of digital competencies of students,” said Inna Sukhanova, head of the BIM-ICE project, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services.

According to Yury Stolbikhin, the Deputy Head of the BIM-ICE project, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor of the Department of Water Use and Environment, electives, championships, cases help students master digital competencies, prepare to feel confident in production in the future.

Yury Uglenko, fourth-year undergraduate student of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services, is the winner of the overall standings and the best in the “Electrician” competency of the BIM elective 2020/2021. At the qualifying intra-university BIM championship, he took the second team place and became the best in his competency. In addition, Yury was among the participants in the WorldSkills Hi-Tech Championship, which was held last autumn in Ekaterinburg. “Information modeling is becoming more and more popular. Participation in olympiads and championships helps to prove oneself and learn something new,” Yury is sure.

According to the results of the overall standings of the BIM-elective 2020/2021, Maksim Khamidulin, the fourth-year undergraduate student of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services was recognized as the best in the Heating and Ventilation competency. In addition, he was ranked among the best in this competency and became one of the owners of the first team place at the intra-university and all-Russian BIM championships. “I definitely recommend other students trying their hand at the championships. This is an opportunity to prove yourself, gain indispensable experience in real design and teamwork. This championship takes place every year. This is a chance to acquire new skills and improve existing ones,” Maksim believes.
