A gift to the University’s museum

20 Feb 2015

On February 18, 2015 daughter and great grandson of Tatiana V. Rimskaya-Korsakova (17/30.01.1915 – 5.04.2006) – granddaughter of the great composer Nikolay A. Rimskiy-Korsakov (1844–1908) – paid a visit to SPSUACE.

On January 30, 2015 she would have turned 100 years. Tatiana V. Rimskaya-Korsakova was a PhD in architecture, urban planner who graduated from our university in 1938.

She worked in Leningrad branch of the Academy of architecture of the USSR, Leningrad regional scientific research and project institute of typical and experimental design. She was a director of the department which worked upon issues of urban planning of Irkutsk, Norilsk and Vorkuta.

But her life was mainly connected with preservation of the music heritage of N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, perpetuation of his memory.

Tatiana Vladimirovna participated in development and erection of the three museums of the composer: House museum in his motherland in Tikhvin (established in 1944), Memorial apartment museum of N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov in Leningrad on Zagorodny prospect, 28 (established in 1970) and open-air museum “Liubensk-Vechasha” in Pliussky area of Pskovskaya oblast, where the composer had dachas. She also took part in architectural projects and expositions in museums, as her professional support as an architect was of great value.

After having retired in 1973 Tatiana Vladimirovna took an active part in development of scientific concepts of museums in Tikhvin and Liubensk, developed reconstruction projects of museum complexes, headed the charity fund named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov. Tatiana Vladimirovna is an author of the guide about the Memorial apartment museum on Zagorodny prospect, 28 and a number of articles and books about the composer. Her dedicated and noble work in favor of the Russian culture was continued till the last day of her life.

Daughter of T.V. Rimskaya-Korsakova – Veronika Vsevolodvna and great grandson Igor visited the University’s museum and presented a thing which Tatiana Vladimirovna used in her professional activity – a set of drawing instruments of Richter brand which was bought in Germany over 80 years ago. All instruments are still in good condition have a dull luster of chrome. T.V. Rimskaya-Korsakova must have used it when designing urban plans of Irkutsk and other cities. Being an item of the museum it will remind students of love to the profession which Tatiana Vladimirovna had felt during her entire long and very interesting life.

Here we face a link of times as Igor – great grandson of Tatiana Vladimirovna and the great composer – graduated from our university as his great grandmother but in 2000s. He is successful in the profession he had got in SPSUACE.
