On 13th December, 2016 a lecture of the Deserved architect of Russia Oleg Andreevich Harchenko «Architecture of Olympic objects» took place at the St.-Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering. This lecture is one of a series of lectures «Profession: the architect».
Similar lectures have invaluable importance for future town-planners and designers, give them a chance «to hear the person who has already lived and has already received some professional experience, to get invaluable advice what to do in this or that situation».
In the performance Oleg Andreevich made the basic accent on two successfully realized projects of Sochi Olimpiad-2014: an ice palace "Iceberg" and an ice palace "Big". Fascinatingly and intelligibly, illustrating the words with colorful pictures and detailed drawings, he told about all stages of huge construction and its features, about scope of technological process, enormous and inspired work of architects and builders, difficulties which were, and about overcoming these difficulties.
«Civil engineering is difficult technological process. The architect should constantly think, how it will be constructed, how it will function further … It is necessary to keep each object in the head, to keep a uniformity», - the lecturer underlined.
Students personally could be convinced, what responsibility lies on them as on the future architects since it is difficult to project all «from zero» and constantly keep in focus all stages of construction. «The architect has a special type of thinking. The architect is not simply a manager. He always participates and co-participates in building process, corrects and co-ordinates architectural images of planned decisions, conducts the process of object creation», - O.A.Harchenko emphasized.
After the lecture, and sometimes during it, interested listeners asked Oleg Andreevich questions on nuances of constructing Olympic space in Sochi, about building materials and the technologies used in the construction, about suppliers of materials and customers, about creative and harmonious work of the international architectural bureaus and commands.
«The architecture is an enormous work», - Oleg Andreevich said in conclusion and wished students of SPSUACE successes on the selected, hard, but worthy and necessary field.
