BIM Championship 2019 Starts at SPbGASU
On April 22, 2019, SPbGASU project office ‘Smart City’ opened the BIM Championship 2019 which is important because of full transition to BIM in construction to 2020 and application of it in educational process.
Seven teams from Saint Petersburg, Samara, Tyumen, Rostov-On-Don and Kazakhstan participate in the Championship
The teams represent their universities:
- Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering,
- Don State Technical University,
- Kostanay State University (Kazakhstan),
- Samara State Technical University (Samara Polytech),
- Peter the Great Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University,
- Tyumen Industrial University.
Aleksandr Chernykh, Head of the Department of Metal and Timber Constructions, opened the Championship and express his hope for it to become a memorable and useful event for the participants:
Thanks to Russian and Kazakh universities, the Championship geography has extended. It is a contribution to professional BIM society’
Irina Lugovskaya, First Vice Rector, greeted the teams:
‘I hope you enjoy taking part in the Championship. I’m happy that it has become an international contest although we started from nothing two years ago. Today SPbGASU has elective courses in curriculum, organizes scientific conferences on BIM and from September 1, 2019, BIM must be applied in educational process. I also wish the Championship to become a tradition’
Sergey Petrov, Head and Founder of BIMSYSTEM, Sponsor of BIM Championship 2019, spoke to the students:
‘We have organized an online platform for BIM studying and we also sponsor the Championship. We award winners with money certificates: 100 000 rubles for the first place, 60 000 rubles for the second and 40 000 rubles for the third. It is essential for construction in Russia to teach BIM experts’.
Andrey Nekryach, Head of ‘AVS-SPb’, and Pavel Lukyanov, Vice Head on Technical Issues at ‘VIZARDSOFT’ also spoke out at the opening ceremony.
The Teams
The captains said a few words, too.
Nikita Gorovoy (SPbGASU) wished everybody good luck. Pavel Teteryaev (SPbGASU) told that BIM Championship was a great experience in interdisciplinary work. Ksenia Dmitrakova (Peter the Great Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University) reminded about time limit for the tasks and a cool performance every team must have made. Grigory Karengin (Tyumen Industrial University) expressed his gratitude for a chance to take part in the contest. Ilias Azelkhanov (Kostanay State University) mentioned that it was their first time at such event and his team was eager to make new friends.
