Career Days 2020 at SPbGASU
From February 17 to February 28, Career Days are taking place at St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. This is an aggregated name of a series of events organized for career guidance and familiarization of students with employment practices.
Students at the meeting
A whole series of events is taking place in the framework the Career Days:
- Open lectures by practitioners
- Meetings of students and employers
- Master classes aimed at developing “hard” and “soft” professional competencies
- Online job fair.
All events are offered for students of any grades and faculties.
Participation in such events helps to navigate the modern labor market and determine one’s career preferences.
- “For students, this is a great chance to show them, to find a place for practical training, internship or permanent work. Communication with employers, organized in various formats, helps to get rid of psychological barriers, to develop self-presentation skills, which, in return, increases the competitiveness of our graduates on the labor market,” said Daria Knyazkova, specialist of the SPbGASU Employment Assistance Service.
The first week of Career Days 2020 was quite busy: representatives of more than 10 companies visited the university.

Galina Romanova, a training specialist at HeidelbergCement, held two master classes for students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering on the “Methods of rising personal effectiveness. Achievements of goals."
Representatives of the State Unitary Enterprise Lengiproinzhproekt addressed the students of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Urban Economics: Evgeny Varenik, Deputy Director for Economics and Finance, and Vitaly Guglev, Deputy Director for Production spoke about the employment opportunities at their enterprise for SPbGASU graduates.
– “Today, specialists at the Lengiproinzhproekt have career advancement prospects up to the positions of project managers, though this is not the limit: your career growth directly depends on your ambitions, abilities and knowledge,” said Vitaliy Guglev.
Advisor to the General Director of St. Petersburg Passazhiravtotrans SUE Sergey Mayevsky introduced his company to students of the automobile and road-building faculty and told them about various promising professions in the passenger transportation market.
“We are interested in SPbGASU graduates and will be glad to see you among our staff,” he resumed.
Guests from Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus offered a rich program: HR specialists spoke about the company and organized a master class on interviews, and Yevgeny Yakovlev, an SPbGASU graduate, Chief Engineer at the Department of Production Engineering and Labor Protection, shared his experience at this enterprise.
The delegates of Atomproject JSC introduced the students to their organization and invited them to take there a practical training and further employment. The head of the Architectural Design Group, Ekaterina Levashko delivered a lecture to the students of the Faculty of Architecture on the “Features of designing foreign nuclear power plants using the Hanhikivi NPP example (Finland)”, and the engineer of the information modeling department Maria Belonogova told the students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering about information modeling of complex production facilities.
– “Your future is up to you. It is necessary to constantly learn and invest as much as possible in your development. Your career growth will depend on your efforts and aspirations,” said Pyotr Rakushin, expert of the Atomproekt project production department.
For students of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Alexander Pomorin, Director General of Construction Corporation Renaissance of St. Petersburg LLC taught a lecture on the topic of “Modern Image of an Employee in the Housing and Utilities Sector” and an on-site lecture at Geosphere LLC on the topic of “Practical Experience in Quality Management in Construction”.
The Faculty of Forensics and Law in Construction and Transport invited representatives of courts and law firms to communicate with students.
Svetlana Konkova, Director of the event line at the Head Hunter Company, conducted a master class on “How to Find a Dream Job: Skills of the Future and Secrets of a Successful Resumé”. She told how to create a resumé that attracts the attention of potential employers.
The leading psychologist of the Admiralteysky District Employment Agency Irina Milova used psychological tests to help students take a look at themselves from the side and worked with them on the skills of successful self-presentation at the interview.
