Community Colleges Administrators Visit to SPbGASU
On April 4, 2019, Community Colleges administrators from the USA and Fullbright representatives visited SPbGASU. The delegation consisted of
- Allison Michaela Blizzard, District Director of Portland Community College,
- Timothy Donald Gwillim, Associate Dean from Davidson County Community College,
- Sanjay Kumar Rai, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs from Montgomery College,
- Robert Francis Smith, Assistant Dean from Northampton Community College,
- Mark Joseph Vesligaj, Campus Director and Program Coordinator from Three Rivers Community College.
Fullbright representatives were Joel Meyer Ericson, Fullbright Director in Russia, Elena Shabashova, Leading Expert, and Olga Petrova, Program Coordinator.
The guests visited Science and Research Library and one of the University laboratories, had a meeting with SPbGASU Top management team and representatives from faculties.
Irina Lugovskaya, SPbGASU First Vice Rector: ‘I am happy to welcome you on behalf of Evgeny Rybnov, SPbGASU Rector. I am sure our negotiations will result in cooperation between our educational organizations’.
Cooperation issues, student and academic staff exchange, reading lectures at SPbGASU as part of Fullbright programme, Fullbright grants for students, participation of Community Colleges in SPbGASU Summer Schools was discussed at the meeting.
What are Community Colleges?
Five Community Colleges are one of the largest educational organizations in their states.
Portland Community College has more than 100 educational programmes in Engineering, Computer Science, Aviation and Public Health.
Nursing, Business Administration, Computer Science, Law Enforcement and Pre-School Education are the most popular education programmes at Davidson County Community College.
Montgomery College has popular programmes in business. The college is located near Washington, so the students can visit Smithsonian Institution, the Library of Congress, the National Institute of Standards and Technology and National Institute of Health.
Northampton Community College students get their degrees in Human and Socials Sciences as well as Engineering, Public Health and Art.
Three Rivers Community College educational programmes are connected with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
Cooperation between SPbGASU and Community Colleges will increase student and academic staff mobility.
SPbGASU international cooperation is one of the major directions. The University has signed more than 60 cooperation agreements with higher education organizations all over the world and the list of them is constantly growing.
