On 26th April, 2017 III All-Russia scientifically-practical conference «Modern problems of history and theory of architecture (maintenance of city environment: problems and prospects)» was held at the St.-Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering.

The conference purpose was to generate the complex approach to understanding the place of town-planning, architecture, history and culture monuments in the modern world.

The main directions of the conference work were:

• Research problems of the city environment evolution;
• Modern construction in a context of historical cities;
• Reconstruction and innovation of historical city environment.

The conference was organized by the Chair of History and Theory of Architecture of SPSUACE.

«Without a support on traditions the further advance is impossible. Senior students who recently ran interrogations revealed an interesting fact: on the first place they put architectural design, and on the second - history of architecture. The youth understands that without knowing architectural heritage it is impossible to create something new. The conference was to promote vocational training of the future generation of our architects», - said an acting head of the chair of history and theory of architecture Valery Yurjevich Mostovich.
