Day of Remembrance and Sorrow
One of the most tragic dates in the history of Russia is June 22. On this day in 1941, the Great Patriotic War began, claiming tens of millions of lives.
In memory of the bloodiest war of the twentieth century. On June 22, 2022 at 12:15 Moscow time, the all-Russian Minute of Silence took place for the first time. For one minute, production at enterprises, the work of public transport and cash desks in stores stopped, television and radio broadcasting was interrupted.
Together with the whole country, students, staff, teachers of the St Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering honored the memory of the deceased by lighting candles at the military memorial of the university.
The pain of loss will never ease. Decades later, we pay tribute to the memory and respect to those who defended the Fatherland on the battlefields, who forged the Victory in the rear, who had to go through inhuman trials and restore the country from ruins. We mourn for all those who, at the cost of their lives, fulfilled their holy duty, defending our Fatherland in those harsh years.
