Day of Russian Science
Anton Gaido
On February 8, the scientific community celebrates the Day of Russian Science. This holiday was established in 1999 and timed to coincide with the founding date of the Academy of Sciences in Russia, which was established on February 8 (January 28, old style) 1724 by order of Emperor Peter I.
The Day of Russian Science is a holiday for all those who create the intellectual potential of our country, who conduct tireless scientific research and acquire new fundamental and applied knowledge, whose painstaking work, enthusiasm and dedication to science serve the interests of the optimal and safe development of society.
Demanded topics have always been the subject of research by scientists from the St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Their focus is architecture and construction in the Arctic regions, the restoration of architectural heritage, the development of new building structures and materials, digital technologies in construction and housing services and utilities, intelligent transport systems, and much more. New ideas, developments, projects are designed to promote socio-economic development, make people's lives better.
The topic of the doctoral dissertation of Anton Gaido, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Head of the Department of Construction Technology, was the methodology for choosing effective methods for the production of special works in soils according to the criterion of manufacturability. “In modern conditions, many different technologies are used for laying foundations and fencing pits. In case of an incorrect choice, the quality of the foundations will decrease, emergency situations may occur. I have developed a methodology that allows you to choose a method of working in soil, taking into account a combination of various factors. It will be useful for builders, designers, supervisory authorities,” said Anton Nikolaevich.
✔ The work was carried out for almost 10 years. During this time, patents were obtained for inventions for piling, steel sheet piles, fall wells, lintels in the water area, and systems for protecting soil. These technical solutions were proposed in the course of the author's production activities and tested on construction sites in St. Petersburg.
The scientist plans to develop the ideas included in the dissertation. We congratulate Anton Gaido on a successful defense and wish him further success!
