Day of Solidarity Against Terrorism
The tragic events in Beslan, which resulted in hundreds of deaths, took place on 1–3 September 2004.
3rd September is therefore a special date for our country – it’s the Day of Solidarity in the fight against terrorism, established in memory of the victims of the horrific terrorist attack.
On this day, our country pays tribute to its citizens killed by terrorists in Beslan, as well as in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Budyonnovsk, Pervomaiskoye, Volgograd and other places. Mourning the victims, people lay flowers at memorials, light candles and release balloons into the sky.
Combating terrorism is one of today's biggest global challenges. More intensive security measures in public places and educational institutions, a greater responsibility, vigilance and determination to fight against the massive threat will make it impossible for criminals to carry out their atrocities. And the best preventive measures against the emergence of extremist attitudes are tolerance and mutual respect.
