Day of Student Squads

February 17 is the Day of Russian student squads. This public holiday was established by decree of the President of Russia in 2015. The date was chosen after the All-Russian Youth Public Movement "Russian Student Squads" was first established during the All-Russian forum of student squads on February 17, 2004, in Moscow.
The history of the youth movement began in the middle of the last century. During this time, about 18 million people passed the school of student squads.
✔ In SPbGASU, the movement of student squads also has a rich history. Our university squad members worked in different parts of the country, including the Far North. To date, the university has eight student squads – construction, archaeological, agricultural, two pedagogical.
As part of the youth patriotic action "Nevsky Landing", the squad members travel to different districts of the Leningrad Region, where, in addition to work, they conduct lessons, master classes, concerts at schools and cultural centers.
Squad life is not only work, but also various interesting events. Aleksandra Shestakova, commissioner of the SPbGASU student squads headquarters, says: “Currently, registration is underway for the tournament of student squad members in football, which will take place on February 23, and volleyball, which will be held in mid-March. In March, we are waiting for the 21st City Evening of the St. Petersburg student squads song - performers who have passed the selection will perform with well-known or their own works. Simple friendly communication is also in demand: we hold intellectual games, creative contests, and sing along with guitar. Everyone is looking forward to these meetings.”
According to Ekaterina Dementieva, commandant of the SPbGASU student squads headquarters, “student squads mean friendship, the most valuable experience in the field that you like, as well as the opportunity to develop many skills. Today we congratulate everyone who has already felt the squad spirit, who keeps it and carries it through the years. And if this is still a new and unexplored world for you, then it's time to join - admission to the SPbGASU student squads is already open! Construction, work in children's camps, in vineyards or real archaeological excavations - choose what is closer to you and come to us!”
