Until 2015, the holiday date was unofficial. It was celebrated on 30 June – the day of establishment of the People's Commissariat of Finance later transformed into the Ministry of Finance of the USSR.
The idea of celebrating Economist's Day on 11 November was put forward by the Free Economic Society of Russia, the successor and continuer of the traditions of the Imperial Free Economic Society, founded in 1765. This oldest economic public organization in our country is responsible for such important initiatives as the abolition of serfdom and the introduction of universal primary education.
Galina Tokunova, the Dean, spoke about the Faculty:In the life of modern society, the role of economists is very important. Analyzing the available indicators, they make forecasts and develop strategies for the development of companies. You can get the profession of an economist at the Faculty of Economics and Management of our university.
– The University began training economists back in 1930, providing the state with highly needed and requested personnel at that time and solving strategically important tasks. Over the years, the University has developed traditions in training personnel for the construction industry, which provide our graduates with high competitive advantages in the labor market and allow them to successfully advance up the career ladder. Despite the significant baggage of established methodological developments, the Faculty keeps developing, monitoring the trends that are characteristic of modern society. Competent use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the work of a modern economist and manager as a basis for automating routine technologies and introducing innovative business models are the challenges that we successfully work out in our curricula and programs.
