On 22 June, 1941, the Great Patriotic War began. This is one of the most sorrowful dates in Russian history.
The Day of Remembrance and Sorrow reminds us of all those who died in battles, were tortured in captivity, died in the rear from hunger and deprivation. On this day, commemorative events are held with the lighting of candles, the laying of flowers at the monuments.
At 12:15 Moscow time, a minute of silence is held. Exactly one minute in the country, the usual activities, radio and television broadcasting are suspended.
Together with all residents of the Russian Federation, SPbGASU students, staff, and teachers mourn those who, at the cost of their lives, defended the Motherland during the harsh war years. Candles lit at the marble plaques with the names of the heroes personify the deep gratitude of the descendants.
