The professional holiday of restorers is celebrated on 1 July. On this day in 1945, the Leningrad Architectural and Restoration Workshop of the Directorate for Architectural Affairs of the Leningrad City Executive Committee was created, which marked the beginning of the famous Leningrad (St Petersburg) school of restoration. The workshop employees restored monuments destroyed during the Great Patriotic War. Thanks to their work, we can still enjoy the unique appearance of St Petersburg and its suburbs.
You can obtain the sought-after profession of an architect-restorer at the St Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The SPbGASU Department of Architectural and Urban Planning Heritage dates back to 1830. Students and teachers of the department participate in international educational programs, competitions and conferences. Assignments for course and diploma projects are prepared by the administrations of cities and regions of North-West Russia, heritage protection committees, museum-reserves, design and production organizations.
We wish current and future restorers interesting projects, professional growth, and creative victories!
