The Day of Russian Student Squads is celebrated on 17 February. It was on this day in 2004 that the All-Russian Youth Public Movement "Russian Student Squads" was founded at the All-Russian Forum of student squads.

The first squad was formed in 1949 at LISI (SPbGASU). Today, the headquarters unites nine student squads. In addition, our university has a squad called "Lastochka", representing the Youth Patriotic Action "Nevsky Troops".

Polina Yurkova, a representative of the SPbGASU student squads headquarters, spoke about what 2024 would be remembered for.

As part of the international construction squads project, Eliza Iskuzhina from the student construction squad (SCS) "Polza" took part in the construction of the Akkuyu NPP in Turkey from February to March. Eliza joined the international student construction squad "Bosphorus". And in June she was appointed as the project commissioner.

Ekaterina Bushueva from the Polza SCS and Andrey Repin from the Piatnitsa SCS visited Egypt as part of the mixed all-Russian squad Dune. In order to take part in the large-scale project to build the El Dabaa NPP, the guys had to go through a competitive selection. But they gained experience, got to know an interesting country, and got new impressions.

A bright event of May was the film festival of the student squads of St Petersburg "Your Audience", in which the student pedagogical squad (SPS) "Svoboda" won in several nominations with the film "Path", dedicated to the search of young people for themselves and their place in life. The work of our students was awarded prizes for the best feature film, best camera work and best sound engineering.

From 27 April to 1 May, the SAS (student archaeological squad) "Lin'" organized the youth volunteer project "Memory Watch. Bridgehead at the Krasnaya Gorka Fort." The fighters of the student squads were engaged in the improvement of this historical place. Three members of the SAS "Lin'" distinguished themselves here: Ekaterina Dementyeva was the project manager, Polina Yurkova was responsible for the evening cultural program, and Daria Obukhova was responsible for the photos from the event.

There were two anniversaries in 2024: 65 years since the founding of the movement and 20 years of the modern history of student squads. Our fighters took part in the All-Russian rally of Russian student squads in Moscow on 21–24 November, 2024, which was dedicated to the events.

The St Petersburg Student Squads Festival was held on 9 December, 2024. The "Cousteau" construction squad was honored there, it turned 10 years old. The merits of the SPbGASU graduate, a fighter and former commander of the SAS "Lin'" Ekaterina Dementyeva were recognized with a diploma. Two medals were awarded to a fighter of the SPS "Arlekino", graduate Kira Martel, one went to a graduate Egor Anikin from the SPS "Svoboda", who headed the city headquarters. According to tradition, newlyweds are given champagne at the festival - it was received by Dmitry and Maria Salnikovs (SSS "Cousteau" and SPS "Arlekino", respectively).

According to Polina Yurkova, the most important event of last year was the tenth anniversary of the headquarters of the SPbGASU student squads. A concert in honor of this date took place on 2 December. The guys gave performances - songs, dances, comedy sketches. The concert was visited by veterans of the movement, family members, and friends. The fighters were congratulated by the Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Marina Malyutina.

2025 has started actively. In January and February, fighters traditionally went to the Leningrad region to clean up areas, hold concerts, lessons and master classes. SPbGASU was represented by 22 students from the "Lastochka" squad as part of the Nevsky Troops, and more than 30 students as part of combined squads. SPbGASU students visited settlements from the Lomonosov District to the Republic of Karelia.

We wish the SPbGASU student squads new interesting events and a successful work season!
