Day of Russian Students is celebrated on 25 January. The holiday on the traditional Tatiana's Day was officially established by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation on 25 January, 2005. It was on this day (12 January according to the Julian calendar) in 1755 that Empress Elizaveta Petrovna signed the decree on the founding of the first Russian university.

SPbGASU is proud of its students who conduct scientific research, participate in large-scale projects, win competitions, and actively volunteer. On the Day of Russian Students, we are happy to tell you about some of them.

Elena Abashina has been a member of the SPbGASU Student Council for three years, where she is responsible for conducting surveys among students on current topics, consulting and providing information support to students. Elena also participates in the implementation of student initiatives, and was twice among the organizers of the large-scale creative competition "Golden Faculty". In addition, Elena is a prize winner of several competitions related to educational activities.

"In March 2024, as part of the team of the Department of Technosphere Safety, I took part in the regional stage of the All-Russian Student Olympiad in Life Safety, where we received a second-degree diploma in the "Solving Situational Problems" stage. In the summer of 2024, I took part in the II Regional Competition "TIM in Labor Protection", where we took first place in the overall team standings and second in two nominations - "Work at Height" and "First Aid to Victims". In September of this academic year, I took part in the Youth Day of the IX All-Russian Labor Protection Week and was awarded a second-degree winner's diploma in the case championship "Formation of a Safety Culture: Trends and Innovations," Elena said.

Zlata Zolotykh heads the Eco Tusa project and is actively involved in science: “Studying at the university opened up many opportunities for me. I have about ten scientific articles in journals peer-reviewed by the Higher Attestation Commission and the Russian Science Citation Index, covering various topics in the construction industry - from analyzing modern building materials and construction technologies to solving legal problems. I also like to apply my skills and knowledge by participating in contests and competitions. The most significant achievements for me were receiving a scholarship from the Government of St Petersburg, winning the all-Russian student project competition "CAD-Perspektiva-2024", winning prizes in regional TIM championships, participating in the CASE-IN championship, a workshop from the Samolet group of companies, and studying on an exchange in China. I am grateful to our university for giving so many chances to prove myself and my skills for future implementation, and I am not ready to rest.”

Leonid Nikolaev, who became the head of the Student Council of St Petersburg in September 2024, faced serious challenges: creating a good team, improving the work of information channels, and establishing work with external organizations.

"We have coped with the first challenge by 80-90 percent. The council team is almost fully staffed, the personnel reserve already consists of almost 50 people. We are still working on social networks and will definitely implement the plans during the first quarter of 2025. As for improving work with external organizations, here, in my opinion, everything is also successful: we constantly communicate with government bodies, budgetary institutions, public organizations and youth associations of our city, country and even from abroad. I see that every day we become stronger and more confident. We will definitely strive to achieve our goals!"

Previously, Leonid Nikolaev headed the Student Council of our university, and at the moment he is its deputy chairman.

We wish all students success in all good endeavors, inexhaustible energy and inspiration!
