Legal professionals celebrate their professional holiday on 3 December. The choice of date is connected with the adoption of judicial statutes in Russia in 1864, which served as the basis for judicial reform. The reforms established universal equality before the law and openness of legal proceedings. The institution of jurors and the system of justice court appeared. At the same time, the profession of attorney emerged.
After 1917, the celebration was forgotten at the official level, but in 2008 it returned again following the decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
The profession of a lawyer is very important and in demand. Lawyers bring to life the idea of justice and support the inviolability of the principles of the rule of law.
At SPbGASU, lawyers are trained at the Faculty of Forensics and Law in Construction and Transport. Students hone their practical skills in the student legal consultation (legal clinic).
As the Dean of the Faculty of Forensics and Law in Construction and Transport Dmitry Ivanov said, our graduates-lawyers successfully work in law enforcement agencies as investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, in various territorial divisions of the internal affairs agencies in the positions of investigator, inspector, etc., in law and notary offices, legal advisers at enterprises and in law firms. The demand for graduates of the Faculty is explained by the fact that during their studies, students have the opportunity to choose a site for internship from a large list of organizations with which agreements on practical training have been concluded, and can practice in both state and non-state organizations at different years of study. The educational process involves practicing teachers, who share their rich practical experience in practical and laboratory classes and help develop skills in working with regulatory legal documents and legal information arrays, which helps our students to be in demand in the labor market already during their studies at the university. In general, the educational process is focused on all branches of substantive and procedural law, which also contributes to the demand for FFLCT graduates in various structures of government agencies and non-governmental organizations.
