"Friendship Unites!" The International Students Council Celebrated People's Unity Day

On 7 November, the International Students Council of the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering held a celebration in honor of People's Unity Day. The event was hosted by the deputy chairmen of the International Students Council: the head of the Russian Conversational Club project Sabrinahon Solehzoda and the head of the Mini-Tour project Aigul Orazdurdyeva.

In his welcoming speech, Vice-Rector for Educational Activity Sergey Mikhailov told about the history of the holiday and noted that this year the event, which has already become traditional, has significantly expanded its geography. Sergey Vladimirovich wished everyone bright impressions, comfortable communication, good and health.

Antonia Angelova, Chairperson of the International Students Council, addressed the participants of the festive event: "Friendship unites! This is the most important thing, and we are very glad that the university supports us."

Larisa Kristova, a representative of the St Petersburg Youth House, also took the floor and informed about the recently opened International Friendship Club.

Chairman of the Society of Philologists of St Petersburg State University Georgi Yordanov admitted that he was impressed by the friendly atmosphere at SPbGASU and expressed his readiness for cooperation.

The concert part of the festival was opened by SPbGASU student Ikhda Prasetia with an Indonesian song. A lyrical dance with a jug was performed by a student of the Russian State Pedagogical University named after A. I. Herzen Elvira Shakhpazova. A rhythmic Bulgarian song was performed on stage by a student of the BSTU "Voenmech" named after D. F. Ustinov Stefani Dimitrova. A fiery Nicaraguan folk dance was performed by SPbGASU student Anik Garache. Poems about the Guatemalan flag were recited by Sofia Artiga.

The students tested their knowledge by answering the questions of the quiz "The Origins of Unity". After that, the youth got acquainted with national dishes of different countries. The treats were prepared by the students themselves.

The organizers thank Russian and foreign students from SPbGASU, Baltic State Technical University "Voenmech" named after D. F. Ustinov, Leningrad State University named after A. S. Pushkin, Russian State Pedagogical University named after A. I. Herzen, St Petersburg University of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Higher School of Economics, St Petersburg State Forestry University named after S. M. Kirov, St Petersburg State University, St Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II, St Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, Chelyabinsk State University, Tashkent University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Uzbekistan), as well as representatives of the Youth Society of Tajik Students (MOST).

"There are many students of different nationalities studying at our university. Therefore, on this day I would especially like to wish us all unity, stability and confidence. We, the SPbGASU International Students Council, are always happy to support each other and unite in our university family. The holiday is a long-standing tradition, we have been celebrating this event at our native university for the seventh year in a row," said Antonia Angelova.
