On November 12, 2018 Félix Valdez, Consul General of Embassy of Spain in Saint Petersburg, and delegation from Technical University of Madrid (UPM, Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, Spain) visited SPbGASU and signed cooperation agreement.
On UPM delegation were: Atienza Riera Jose Miguel, Vice Rector on Foreign Affairs; Alberto Pieltain, Head for Foreign Affairs Office, Maria Dolores Herrero Palenzuela, Head of Russia Affairs Office, Menendez Pidal Navascues Ignasio Faustino, Professor of High School of Engineering, Motor Roads, Canals and Bridges. Evgeny Rybnov, SPbGASU Rector, Svetlana Golovina, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Olga Dyachkova, Vice Rector for Science and Technology Affairs and Further Education and heads of other offices represented SPbGASU.
The parties signed Education and Science Cooperation Agreement between SPbGASU and UPM.
Félix Valdez, Consul General of Embassy of Spain in Saint Petersburg: ‘The Agreement is the first step to cooperation. I am sure that the signing fuels relations between our countries’.
After formal part the delegation visited Faculty of Architecture and went on university excursion. The parties discussed student and staff exchange, participation in conferences, seminars, theses defenses and joint workshops. A separate topic was the heritage of architect Agustín de Betancourt y Molina.
Technical University of Madrid (UPM) is the oldest and largest Spanish technical university. It consists of 21 schools including Madrid High School of Architecture. UPM pays great attention to international education and exchanges students with more than 400 universities in the world. It is also an active member of numerous international university associations and higher education centres.
