Egor Ilyin is the best graduate

On June 29, the Northern capital honored the best graduates of St Petersburg universities. At the ceremony in the Peter and Paul Fortress SPbGASU was represented by Egor Ilyin, who completed his master's degree studies at the Faculty of environmental engineering and municipal services.

SPbGASU Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Irina Lugovskaia, Aleksandr Beglov, Egor Ilyin, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of St Petersburg and Leningrad Region Universities, Rector of St Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design Aleksey Demidov

The Governor of St Petersburg Aleksandr Beglov presented the best graduates with appreciation letters and bronze figurines of the Sphinx - a symbol of wisdom, intelligence and strong character.

“This year St Petersburg universities are graduating more than 70,000 graduates who will travel to many regions of the country, but I am sure that the majority will remain in our city. We need you. We need your talents, your knowledge and skills,” the governor emphasized.

We talked with Egor Ilyin and found out what his studies at SPbGASU gave him.

– At one time, I chose SPbGASU, because technical specialties, and even more so a builder, designer, engineer, will always be in demand. I want to create useful and practical products for people's lives.

– Please tell us for what achievements you were awarded the title of the best graduate.

– I completed my master's degree with honors. During my studies, I published scientific articles, participated in grant competitions. In 2021, I won the competition for grants for research work by students of SPbGASU. In the same year, I became a university scholarship holder for scientific and educational activities, participated in the Congress of Young Scientists as part of the delegation of my university, and the team I led entered the top three at the All-Russian competition “Youth Global Energy Development Forecast”.

In 2022, I took part in the grant competition of the Committee for Science and Higher Education with a study of the organization of air exchange in clean rooms of the pharmaceutical production of the Polisan Scientific and Technological Center. This topic was the subject of my master's thesis.

– Why did you choose this topic?

– Because of its demand. The need for medicines and vaccines is growing every year, research in the field of pharmaceuticals is expanding. Consequently, the need for the infrastructure of pharmaceutical production is increasing: for factories for the production of drugs, research centers. Any such production cannot do without air conditioning systems.

My work is devoted to identifying the most energy efficient and economical method of supplying air to a clean room in a research and technology center. Normative documents provide for four such methods. I came to the conclusion that the method of supplying air with mixed flows is optimal. Installation costs, equipment costs for 2022, and operating costs are significantly lower than the others. The results were obtained on the basis of mathematical modeling in the Star CCM + program and an estimate calculation upon request to a profile installation campaign, equipment suppliers.

Based on the final work, a recommendation will be formulated for the design of air conditioning systems for pharmaceutical industries according to the criteria of energy efficiency, economy, and the method of air supply with a mixed flow will be improved.

– You not only studied well and were engaged in scientific activities, but also actively participated in student life…

– Yes, I have many letters of thanks for participating in the development of student government. Currently, I am the Chairman of the Student Council of St Petersburg and Deputy Chairman of the Student Council of SPbGASU, which I headed for several years. Among the latest projects that we have been working on together with the university administration, I can name the development of a mobile application for SPbGASU.

– What inspires you in life, where do you get energy and motivation?

– Events, circumstances, creativity, the surrounding world - all this is definitely inspiring, you just need to pay attention and find positive moments everywhere.

– Please, share your plans.

– I plan to develop in professional activity. Not in one, but in several at once in parallel: education, scientific activity and much more.
