The event was opened by Ekaterina Voznyak, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture. 'We, architects, attended classes at these departments. It’s where our university studies began. And each of us has our own memories. I remember the great lecturers and how we listened to them with bated breath. I remember how much effort we put into our work in descriptive geometry," she said.
Marina Malyutina, Head of the Division for Studies Administration, spoke of the intergenerational continuity in our university: "The architectural school of SPbGASU is one of the best, and our task is to maintain its traditions. I wish our current students and teachers to be worthy of their forebears, the founders of the departments, and wish you to be inspired by your teachers and to create the works that would be just as good!”
Tatyana Zhukova
Tatyana Zhukova, acting Head of the Department of History and Theory of Architecture, talked about the specifics of educating young architects: "We take yesterday's schoolchildren and help them to make the first steps on their professional path. We have a unique block of lecture materials. What they hear from us cannot be heard anywhere else, cannot be learned from books. Our teachers gather all their professional experience and talent to pass on the knowledge to students."
The Department’s associate professor Valery Mostovich shared his opinion about the exhibition: "History is a glance into the past, without which you cannot look into the future. Our past is presented here. We can only admire the talent and diligence of these people.”
