The professional activities of Aleksey Perov, a senior lecturer at the SPbGASU Department of Architectural Environment Design, were rewarded with gratitude from the leadership of the Gatchina municipal district of the Leningrad region. The corresponding document was received by our university addressed to the rector Evgeny Rybnov.
The head of the Gatchina district, the head of the municipality of the City of Gatchina Vitaly Filonenko and the head of the administration of the Gatchina district Lyudmila Neshchadim noted the great work as part of the interfaculty interaction and the participation of students in the development of design projects for the improvement of public areas, reconstruction and adaptation of cultural heritage sites and historical sites of Gatchina. They expressed gratitude for the help, active cooperation and interesting student projects.
“Thanks to the design projects developed by students in 2022–2023, the public territory of the Marienburg microdistrict on 120th Gatchina Division Street in 2023 won the competition for the selection of public areas for improvement in 2024. For three more cultural heritage sites, there is an understanding and interesting options for their further use,” the letter of gratitude says.
According to Aleksey Perov, their cooperation with Gatchina began in 2018–2019. thanks to the active position of the Department of AED, which at that time was headed by Svetlana Bochkareva.
“Then work on the public spaces of small towns in the Leningrad region was carried out under the agreement between SPbGASU and the regional administration. The Department of Culture of the Gatchina District, under the leadership of Elizaveta Grichukhina, showed the greatest activity. Since that time, as part of coursework and diploma design, the Department of AED has proposed solutions for the development and improvement of various territories in Gatchina: in the areas of Marienburg, Aerodrom, Yegerskaya Sloboda and others. Since 2022, the list of course works and diploma works carried out at the Faculty of Architecture includes not only objects requiring the development of environmental or urban development concepts, but also architectural monuments, such as the administrative building of a copper foundry, a number of dachas from the turn of the nineteenth to twentieth centuries in the Art Nouveau style , for which students of the Department of Architectural and Urban Heritage completed a number of noteworthy current conceptual proposals. Last year, a cooperation agreement was concluded between the Faculty of Architecture and the Association of Public Organizations of the Marienburg District,” explained Aleksey Fedorovich.
The teacher clarified that the projects indicated in the gratitude were worked on by students of the Department of AED Yulia Pavlova, Alena Artyugina, Maria Pladova, Daria Ivanova, Maria Porubova and the Department of Reconstruction and Restoration of Architectural Heritage Anton Ikonnikov, Fedor Zhdanov, Mikhail Volkov, Karolina Laksina.
“The uniqueness of student projects is multifaceted: this is an integrated environmental approach, and the study of the historical and cultural heritage associated with the objects in question, and the use of modern methods of surveying objects using advanced technologies and software, for which we thank the leadership of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services Economy and the Department of Geodesy, Land Management and Cadastres. Separately, I would like to note that the interaction of various faculties and departments in working on specific projects and tasks under the agreement between SPbGASU and the administration of Gatchina took place within the educational process and those educational programs that were able to be combined in content with the complex interaction of university departments. Thus, students received not only relevant skills and competencies within the educational process, but also experience interacting with a wide range of related specialties. We plan to continue and even expand cooperation with the Gatchina region, since the range of objects and tasks has not yet been fully covered,” concluded Aleksey Perov.
Some projects of SPbGASU for the Gatchina regionVitaly Filonenko and Lyudmila Neshchadim expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the SPbGASU rector Evgeniy Rybnov for the high level of organization and participation of the teaching staff and students of the university in solving the problems of the development of Gatchina, and improvement of the architectural appearance of the city.
