Foreign trainees of the SPbGASU preparatory department prepared a New Year’s performance “The Adventures of Foreigners in Russia,” thereby congratulating each other on the upcoming holiday and showing their level of proficiency in the Russian language, which they had been studying for only a few months.
– Every year we prepare a New Year’s event in the form of fairy tales, which allows students not only to practice spoken Russian, but also to become familiar with folklore. This year, students prepared a concert with theatrical elements, poems by Russian poets and favorite songs in Russia about winter and the New Year holiday. Such creative events, first of all, provide an opportunity for all trainees to meet in one location and communicate with each other, feel the atmosphere of the holiday, and also increase interest in the Russian language, Russian culture and promote effective language acquisition,” noted Elena Selezneva, head of the Department of Intercultural Communication.
According to her, the organizers of the holiday implemented all the wonderful ideas, and the guys not only showed their extraordinary creative abilities, but also pleasantly surprised on stage with impromptu performances.

The trainee Badarmaa Nyam-Ochir from Mongolia believes that the concert allowed all the participants to get to know each other better. She enjoys learning Russian and speaking at such events.
“I really like Russia, the university and my teachers, who teach us Russian well. I was glad to perform on stage, I enjoyed watching the guys’ performances and I think that the holiday turned out to be great,” said Augustine Joseph Kayinga from Tanzania.
Guys from twenty countries took part in the big New Year's concert.
