International Day of Women and Girls in Science
International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated on 11 February. The holiday was established by the United Nations in 2015 with the aim of increasing the involvement of women and girls in scientific activities, creating equal conditions for them for a scientific career.

At the St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, women scientists conduct active research work and make a great contribution to the development of science. The university is doing everything possible so that talented scientists can fully realize their potential.
Postgraduate student of the Department of History and Theory of Architecture Yana Olshak explores the life and work of the Russian-Finnish architect Ivan Nikolaevich Kudryavtsev (1904-1995) and actively reports on the stages of her research at international conferences and seminars. The study is being conducted under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of Urban Planning Svetlana Levoshko, whose scientific interests are the architecture of the Russian diaspora.
In 2021, Yana Olshak won the grant competition for students, graduate students, young scientists, young candidates of science, which is held by the Committee on Science and Higher Education of St. Petersburg.
The postgraduate student reported on her research at the XII International Scientific Conference “Modern world architecture: main processes of direction and development”, held on October 4–5, 2021 in Moscow; at the All-Russian Scientific Conference "Architectural Heritage", held on December 13-14, 2021 in St. Petersburg; at the International Scientific and Educational Conference "People and Destinies of the Russian Diaspora", held on January 28–29, 2021 and February 3–4, 2022 in Moscow.

✔ In the fall of 2021, Yana Olshak made a scientific trip to Finland. Professional communication with scientists from Aalto University - Professor of the Department of Architectural History and Preservation of Architectural Heritage Panu Savolainen and Master of Architecture Netta Böek, meetings with the priests of Orthodox churches in Finland significantly expanded the research field of the postgraduate student.
Yana Olshak is planning a new trip to Finland to identify objects of historical and architectural heritage, work with archives, interviews, joint research with specialists from Aalto University.
