From 11 to 15 December, the Russian Robotization Week took place in St Petersburg. The program included the Robotics Skills championship, the silver medalist of which was the SPbGASU team in the “Digital Manufacturing” competency.

The competition was conducted by the Creonomics cluster and the St Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation (SUAI).

The team of our university included students from the Faculty of Automobile and Road Building: captain Elizaveta Rakhmanova, who is a fourth-year bachelor’s student, Maksim Sadovnikov and Vladislav Elesin, fourth-year specialist’s students, and Mikhail Muslivets, a fifth-year specialist’s student. The compatriot expert was Roman Litvin, deputy dean for research, associate professor at the Department of Land Transport and Technological Machines.

As Elizaveta Rakhmanova said, there were two blocks of tasks at the championship. Participants were required to create a digital twin of the scooter production and obtain statistical data, and then work with a real robot.

The guys distributed the tasks: Mikhail Muslivets was organizing processes related to shipment from the warehouse; Elizaveta Rakhmanova focused on the product assembly processes; Vladislav Elesin was responsible for the final stage - shipment of finished products to the warehouse; Maksim Sadovnikov was involved in creating a presentation, a road map, the architecture of the upper level of production, and created a video for the presentation. On the second and third days, the responsibilities changed: Vladislav set up the work of the cell with a real robot, the rest combined and edited the stages of the task of the first day.

“We helped each other, suggested how best to set up something inside the program, and we did a great job. We were able to significantly improve communication within the team and understanding of how to optimally distribute tasks. We have grown compared to previous competitions,” said Elizaveta Rakhmanova. The student’s plans are to improve her existing skills and find application for them in real life.

“We gained experience working with specialized software, experience presenting a project, visited an exhibition of innovative robotics and made new acquaintances. We will strive for first place in new competitions!” – Mikhail Muslivets summed up.
