On November 29, the first Golden Trezzini Award Ceremony was held at Trubetskoy-Naryshkin mansion. In the category ‘Student Projects’ the first prize was given to ‘Museum of Architecture Evolution’ by SPbGASU Master student Askhar Galgoev supervised by Oleg Romanov, Professor of the Department of Architectural Engineering.
Askhar Galgoev: ‘The museum has two levels. The first one shows architecture from the earliest times till present. The second level is in the open air and shows achievements in landscape architecture. The exhibition is surrounded by libraries, conference halls, restaurants and cafes’. The museum is supposed to be located at Nalichnaya ulitsa on Vasilyevsky Island. It demonstrates both the future tendencies and traditions of architecture.
The Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design is named after St. Petersburg’s first architect Domenico Trezzini (c. 1670—1734) who was born in Switzerland. It is supported by Consulate General of Switzerland in St. Petersburg and the honorary chairman of the Golden Trezzini jury.is Roger M. Kull, Consul General.
170 projects in 12 categories were submitted for the contest. Its goal was to highlight projects in restoration, reconstruction, construction, and interior design, that match the historically high level intrinsic to St. Petersburg.
The fury consisted of Lev Lurye, historian, Oleg Romanov, President of the Union of Architects Saint Petersburg, Oleg Britov, Vice-President of the Russian Union of Builders for the North-Western Region and Aleksey Belousov, CEO at Saint Petersburg Association of Constructors.
Vasiliy Seliovanov, head of LEGENDA holding: ‘Modern architecture is still paid little attention on. There are lots of discussion on city environment improvement and construction of high-quality appealing objects but unfortunately it is nothing but talk. The Golden Trezzini Award is a good start of finest architecture in Saint Petersburg’.
