Round table at SPbGASU
On 17 May, SPbGASU held a round table “Pre-professional training in construction and housing and communal services” as part of the VII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Information Modeling in the Problems of Construction and Architecture” (BIMAC-2024).
The round table summed up the interim results of the implemented TIM classes project and discussed development plans. In his welcoming speech, Sergey Mikhailov, Vice-Rector for Educational Activity, emphasized: the project participants successfully solve problems related to increasing the prestige of engineering education in Russia, embody the idea of continuous professional education, and do everything for timely implemetation of the updated goals of national development formulated in the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation from 7 May, 2024 No. 309.
On behalf of SPbGASU, Sergey Vladimirovich took part in the solemn ceremony of signing four documents. Two cooperation agreements were concluded on the opening of TIM classes - with secondary schools of St Petersburg No. 69 and No. 353. The third signatory in both cases was Renga Softwear LLC. In addition, two framework agreements on cooperation were signed with secondary school No. 347 with in-depth study of the English language and secondary school No. 342.
Inna Sukhanova, head of the Division for Digital Competence in Construction, and Olga Chernyadyeva, head of the ASCON educational program, spoke about the TIM classes project.
According to Inna Sukhanova, the project started in the fall of 2023. Schoolchildren from 14 years old participated in it. The total number of students in TIM classes was more than 100 people. Classes, which are provided for schoolchildren free of charge, are held once every two weeks for two hours.
To recall, the first school TIM championship of SPbGASU took place in February 2024. 44 schoolchildren took part in it. The work was evaluated by representatives of partner companies Metropolis, Samolet, Visotskiy Consulting, and SPbGASU teachers Kirill Sukhanov and Nikita Gorovoy. Valtec company also acted as a partner. The competition task was designed for one person. The guys designed an individual residential building in the Renga software environment. They needed to develop planning solutions, model the facade of the building, including colors.
Olga Chernyadyeva reported on the experience of introducing TIM classes in Ekaterinburg.
In the future, the project will change its concept: part of the TIM classes will be taught by teachers from the corresponding schools. They will regularly improve their qualifications, have access to methodological and educational materials, and consultations with SPbGASU teachers. The speakers emphasized the need to form a TIM community of teachers.
Schoolchildren of TIM classes have the opportunity to prove themselves in various competitions - “Young Professionals” in the competency “BIM Information Modeling Technologies” (held annually in March), the Open School TIM Championship of SPbGASU (autumn 2024), the School League of the International Construction Championship (September 2024). TIM classes will be opened in other Russian cities, including in new regions of our country.
In September 2024 - May 2025, our university will host the TIM Marathon of Victory on information modeling of historical buildings and structures from the Great Patriotic War.
