Associate Professor at the SPbGASU Department of Architectural Environment Design, PhD in Architecture, and head of the workshop Konstantin Kolodin opened a personal exhibition, “Conceptual Anesthics.”
In her welcoming speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Ekaterina Vozniak, emphasized that the SPbGASU architectural school is rational, progressive, and follows a certain direction, but at the same time absorbs other trends.
"Konstantin Ivanovich represents, on the one hand, the architectural school of the Moscow Architectural Institute, and on the other, his own direction of incredible invention and creativity. And this is valuable to us. Therefore, we suggested that he organized an exhibition so that as many students as possible could get acquainted with his works. Once, the head of the architectural bureau "A.Len" Sergey Oreshkin told me that 90 percent of all specialists who come to him are developers. And only 10 percent are those who can come up with a concept. It is a great honor for me that my students began to penetrate these small creative groups. Konstantin Ivanovich also raises exactly such creative specialists," noted Ekaterina Vozniak.
“The concept is what materializes the hypothesis, and my method is that I do everything at once in volume,” Konstantin Kolodin clarified.
"I don't make sketches. I only sketch out some guidelines on paper, and then I start making three-dimensional forms. This speeds up the process. For example, I made a three-dimensional project of a village in the Kemerovo Region in three days and received first prize. Much can be said about each work presented here. To accommodate everything, at least a dozen such halls would probably be needed," said Konstantin Ivanovich.
“The exhibition became a clear example of how prolific an architect can be, and it is difficult to even imagine when he finds time to do all this,” noted Maria Granstrem, Head of the SPbGASU Department of Architectural Environment Design.
Nadezhda Bogdanova, a second-year student at the Department of Architectural Environment Design, studies with Konstantin Kolodin. “In our workshop, we explore architecture from the point of view of concept and form. This is reflected in the exhibition. We focus on modeling, manual search for ideas. We immerse ourselves in the model, thinking it through from the inside and outside. And this is very interesting! I fully share the opinion of my teacher that architecture is a living matter that develops, breathes, and our ideas help it come to light, to people,” she said.
The exhibition in the exhibition hall of the Faculty of Architecture will last until 7 March.
