On 19 May the “Culture” TV channel of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company “Russia” hosted the premiere of a film about the outstanding architect, graduate of our university Andrey Andreevich Ol, “The House That Ol Built.”
One of the leading Russian architects of the first half of the last century, in 1910 he graduated from the Institute of Civil Engineers (now SPbGASU). Since 1921 he taught at our educational institution, and since 1948 he headed the department of architectural design here. The section of outstanding graduates of the SPbGASU official website contains a webpage dedicated to A.A. Ol.
The film about Andrey Ol was prepared by the channel as part of the series “Nevsky Ark. The Theory of the Impossible,” which tells about prominent figures of St Petersburg culture. Part of the filming took place at SPbGASU: in the scientific and technical library and the university museum. As a sign of the continuity of the architectural school, the creators included in the film footage from an exhibition of student projects held on the balustrade of the main building as part of the “Architectural Seasons 2024”.
You can watch the film on the channel's website.
