Participants, organizers and partners of the TIM Championship

The annual All-Russian student TIM Championship of SPbGASU on information modeling technologies (TIM) has ended: the participants presented projects of cinemas for 500 visitors, on which they worked first for two weeks remotely, and then in person for six eight-hour working days. The results were assessed by an expert commission consisting of teachers from participating universities and representatives of the professional community.

The award ceremony was opened by the SPbGASU Vice-Rector for Continuing Education Viktoria Vinogradova.

"The TIM Championship has been successfully held for the thirteenth time, for the sixth time it has had all-Russian and inter-university status, for four years in a row the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia has included it in the list of events, the winners of which have the right to receive grants from the President of Russia. This year, the TIM Championship is held as part of the SPbGASU innovative educational project "Innovative Methodology for Forming Digital Professional Competencies of Students and Specialists in the Construction Industry". Thus, the efforts of the organizers, partners and participants are aimed at improving the graduate's competency model in the interests of the digital transformation of the domestic construction industry. The teams have done a great job, demonstrated solid knowledge, diverse skills, and sustainable work skills in the field of information modeling. It's great that for a number of universities, participation in our championship has become a tradition, it is nice to meet new teams every year. We implement all our large and small initiatives with the support of industrial partners. Thus, the general partners of the All-Russian TIM Championship are our long-standing and reliable friends – the National Association of Surveyors and Designers (NOPRIZ) and the Metropolis company. We thank them for their invaluable contribution to the implementation of scientific and educational projects of SPbGASU,” noted Viktoria Vinogradova.

Aleksandr Grimitlin

Vice President of the National Association of Surveyors and Designers (NOPRIZ) Aleksandr Grimitlin emphasized that digital transformation is a key section in the development strategy of the construction industry, where the influx of qualified personnel is important.

"The TIM Championship has shown that you are such personnel. I have no doubt that with your qualifications you will be interesting and useful to the industry, and will increase its efficiency," Aleksandr Grimitlin addressed the participants of the TIM Championship.

Aleksandr Kanatov

Head of the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Group at Metropolis Aleksandr Kanatov added that the company is interested in qualified specialists, their professional training and closely cooperates with specialized universities, accepts students for internships and industrial practice, and also employs young specialists and provides them with the opportunity to work on large projects under the guidance of experienced mentors. According to him, such an approach to personnel policy shows effectiveness.

"That is why we are happy to take part in the TIM Championship and thank the organizers for the opportunity provided to students to demonstrate their knowledge and gain design skills. I wish all participants to maintain interest in their chosen profession, a successful start to their careers with exciting projects in a comfortable creative atmosphere," concluded Aleksandr Kanatov.

Maria Korovina

Leading design engineer of Semrén & Månsson Maria Korovina clarified that their company’s projects are located throughout Russia, and the structures focus on digitalization and automation of design.

"Development and implementation of information modeling technology is our main task, so we are happy to take part in this event and see such a large number of strong works. Assessing projects of this level is an inspiring experience. You have proven that even under time constraints and strict regulations, it is possible to show a worthy result with high expertise, which amazes even specialists who have been working in the industry for many years. Thanks to teamwork, you have learned to interact with related specialists, which is necessary in practice. We invite all participants of the championship for internships," Maria Korovina concluded.

Evgeny Popinako

Evgeny Popinako, senior technical specialist for the Northwestern Federal District of PENOPLEX company, thanked the participants for using the company's products, in particular, TIM libraries, and advised them to closely cooperate with solution manufacturers. "We consult specialists in design. Experience shows that such communication leads to greater efficiency. Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering and SPbGASU have used our TIM libraries the most. We would also like to note the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, South Ural State University, Perm National Research Polytechnic University and Togliatti State University," said Evgeny Popinako.

Irina Tretyak

Marketing manager of the Pilot product line of the Ascon company Irina Tretyak presented diplomas and prizes in the nomination "TIM Coordinator". "The TIM Championship has become a useful event for our industry, which will gain from it huge results, including capable specialists," noted Irina Tretyak.

Nikolay Samopal

Deputy General Director of Wizardsoft Nikolay Samopal awarded the top three winners in the "Estimator" nomination. "I would like to mention the estimators of many teams who correctly used the proposed tools, worked with multilayer materials, with estimate coefficients and correctly applied conditional expressions. This indicates good professional skills. Therefore, my colleagues and I thought, maybe next year we should also include an estimate for design in the TIM Championship task, shouldn't we? Do you think you can handle such a serious task?" asked Nikolay Samopal.

The participants fell to thinking considering the proposed amount of work.

Head of the design department of the company "ROSTerm" Valeria Zhukova noted the winners in the nominations "Heating and ventilation engineer", "Water supply and sanitation engineer".

"Our company has been cooperating in organizing the TIM Championship for several years now. I am pleased to see how the level of knowledge and skills of the students is growing. Everyone had wonderful projects," noted Valeria Zhukova.

Maksim Shibanov

Marketing Director of Renga Softwa Maksim Shibanov awarded the winners and prize winners in the "Best Designer" nomination.

"The contest is a competitive event, the participants of which are aimed at winning. But it also allows you to practice your skills in both design and public speaking. By improving your skills and giving feedback, you help us, the developers, to improve ourselves," emphasized Maksim Shibanov.

BIM expert of the "Vysotsky Consulting" company Alevtina German awarded the winners and prize winners in the nomination "Best Architect".

"The Championship brought together many cities of our country, and that's great! You allowed us to see how rich our country is in talent! You were able to do not only your work well, but also effectively coordinated the entire design process. This is important," noted Alevtina German.

The winning teams were awarded by Aleksandr Grimitlin. The first place was taken by the team of the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Arina Aleksanova, Olga Gavrichenkova, Vladimir Inozemtsev, Polina Orlova, Yaroslav Perevalov, Daniil Talalaev).

Second place went to the team from Tyumen Industrial University (Arina Anisimova, Daniil Volodin, Andrey Zhidaikin, Kirill Ivanov, Ivan Makagonov, Evgeny Malygin).

The team from the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Yan Klishkovsky, Aleksandr Larin, Anastasia Moseeva, Ruslan Nabiev, Ivan Suslov, Polina Sutyrina) rounded out the top three.

All participants thanked the organizers for such a high-level event, which became an effective platform for students to work on a real project in conditions as close as possible to production.

To recall, this year the Championship was attended by teams from the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, Far Eastern State Transport University (Khabarovsk), Vyatka State University, South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk), Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Togliatti State University, Samara State Technical University, Tyumen Industrial University, Perm National Research Polytechnic University and St Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.

The general partners of the Championship are the National Association of Surveyors and Designers (NOPRIZ) and the Metropolis company, whose main specialization is general design of civil engineering projects and industrial buildings, including in partnership with the best international and Russian architectural companies.

The Championship's partners also included the architectural bureau "Semrén & Månsson", the companies "ROSTerm", "Wizardsoft", "VALTEC", "ASCON", "PENOPLEX", "SiSoft Development", the State Expertise Center, the company "Renga Softvea", the Design Institute of Construction Acoustics, and the company "Vysotsky Consulting".

The department responsible for the championship is the SPbGASU Educational Center for Digital Competency.

The TIM Championship is held as part of the SPbGASU innovative educational project “Innovative Methodology for Forming Digital Professional Competencies of Students and Specialists in the Construction Industry”.
