On 5-6th November, 2016 St.-Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering had Open Day for entrants and their parents, who came to get acquainted with the university which may become in the near future Alma Mater for many today's schoolboys who visited SPSUACE these days.
The university was a full house for two days: the assembly hall hardly contained all interested persons, the lobby and corridors were filled with young people attentively studying the information on stands.
Traditionally, the Open day began with a salutatory word of the pro-rector on study Irina Robertovna Lugovskaya, a speech of the dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering Alexander Nikolaevich Panin, the dean of Faculty of Architecture Sergey Vladimirovich Sementsov and the responsible secretary of the admission committee Andrey Vjacheslavovich Zazykin. They told about admission rules, a lowest passing score, bachelor degree educational programs, specialist’s degree program and magistracies, work of faculties and chairs, a public and educational life of students, and also about residing conditions in a hostel. As usual, listeners asked their questions, and quite often questions were so thoughtful and difficult that caused hot disputes.
At the end of an introductory part the future students and their parents were invited to excursion on SPSUACE. Schoolboys had an opportunity to visit educational audiences, museums, libraries, workshops and showrooms, to make their own opinion on the university.
Leaving SPSUACE walls, many young men assured that they will return here again, but as students. «The engineer sounds proud» - was told in a welcoming speech, and it’s good that the modern young people completely share this opinion, they are not afraid of difficulties invariably accompanying training to technical specialties, and despite this, they choose SPSUACE.
It is necessary to notice that the university gives a great attention to vocational guidance of entrants. Open lessons of leading teachers of our university are held, excursions in a museum of history of SPSUACE and a museum of Petersburg brick are organized, a program « Become a student for one day» is developed and operates successfully, preliminary courses work, and at Small faculty of architecture training for entering high school on architectural specialties is conducted.
