On November 28 a delegation from Kingdom of the Netherlands visited SPbGASU. It consisted of Ivar Scheers, Deputy General Consul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Ekaterina Chausskaya, Senior Assistant of the Economics Office of the General Consulate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Martin Git, Senior Specialist on Mobility, Transport and Bicycle Infrastructure of Rotterdam City Government.
Irina R. Lugovskaya, First Vice Rector, on behalf of SPbGASU rector Evgeny I Rybnov greeted the guests and emphasized on continued partnership between SPbGASU and General Consulate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Martin Git read a lecture Smart Mobility for a Inclusive, Healthy and Attractive City of Rotterdam to students and academic staff from the Faculty of Automobile and Road-Building. He told about the history of Rotterdam development, reasons for extending pedestrian and biker areas and ways of its realization. Martin Git: ‘Rotterdam and Saint Petersburg have much in common. They both stand on the rivers and are large port and industrial centres. The population of both cities likes to travel by car. Smart mobility is going to make your city more beautiful, healthy and comfortable’. Transport strategy restricts the number of parking lots and uses them for other purposes. At the same time multiplication of electromobiles and bicycles increases as well as investments in public transport, state and local governments cooperate. All these measures make city streets greener and more attractive.
The delegation met SPbGASU top management. Irina R. Lugovskaya agreed on developing student and staff exchange programmes. The parties discussed directions and form of further cooperation. Ivar Scheers: ‘Partnership between SPbGASU and General Consulate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands actively develops and we hope it will develop in future. We believe that personal and professional connection between Russia and the Netherlands is essential and we do our best to improve it’.
