On 19 December, the St Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design held the XXVII St Petersburg Assembly of Young Scientists and Specialists in the concert hall. The winners of the city's scientific and educational competitions, including representatives of our university, were awarded in a solemn ceremony.
In 2024, four participants won the grant competition for students of universities located in St Petersburg, PhD students of universities, industry and academic institutes located in St Petersburg. One researcher received a subsidy intended for young scientists, young candidates of sciences of universities, industry and academic institutes located in St Petersburg. Seven students became scholarship holders of the Government of St Petersburg.
The SPbGASU delegation at the assembly was headed by Rector Evgeny Rybnov, Vice-Rector for Research Evgeny Korolev, Dean of the Faculty of Automobile and Road Building Andrey Zazykin, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering for Research Olga Pastukh and Deputy Head of the Division for Scientific Work Ekaterina Kukoleva.
According to Ekaterina Kukoleva, the Council of Young Scientists and the Student Scientific Society operate at SPbGASU. In 2024, the Startup Forsage project of the SPbGASU Student Scientific Society won the competition for grants in the form of subsidies from the federal budget for the implementation of events aimed at supporting student scientific communities, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. The implementation of this grant contributed to more effective involvement of students in research activities. Every year, SPbGASU hosts a scientific and practical conference "Current issues of modern construction", where students test their scientific results. This year, the conference was held within the framework of this grant and again received national (all-Russian) status. Following the conference, a collection of materials is traditionally published.
Every year the university holds its own grant competitions – for both students and teachers, including young scientists conducting scientific research within the range of priority areas of activity of SPbGASU.
Fourth-year bachelor's student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Zlata Zolotykh, who received a scholarship from the Government of St Petersburg for high achievements in academic, research, creative and social activities, shared her impressions of the assembly.
"My achievements such as winning the All-Russian professional competition of student projects "CAD-Perspective 2024", prize places in construction TIM championships, my publications of scientific articles by the Higher Attestation Commission and the Russian Science Citation Index were taken into account. I am very grateful that I deserved to be part of this event, standing side by side with outstanding scientific figures and young scientists of our city, and I believe that there will be even more events of this level," said Zlata.
Grant support was given to the project of Elena Sorokina, a PhD student of the Faculty of Automobile and Road Building, "Digital ecosystem of transport complex security: transformation based on distributed registry technologies". The research work is devoted to the development of methodological support and technical solutions, allowing for the formation of a digital ecosystem of transport complex security, as well as the selection of organizational and technical measures to maintain a given level of security. The PhD student's scientific supervisor is Egor Golov, Associate Professor at the Department of Transport Systems and Road and Bridge Construction.
According to the author, the research is valuable for the comprehensive improvement of the road infrastructure of St Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. It covers aspects of road condition management, ensuring road safety in the city and the safety of the Russian motor transport complex.
The St Petersburg Assembly of Young Scientists and Specialists is an annual event of the Committee on Science and Higher Education of the Government of St Petersburg. It takes place at the end of the calendar year and brings together the St Petersburg Government scholarship holders, winners of grant competitions. This is the largest event in the city, aimed at popularizing scientific, scientific-technical and educational activities among young people.
