Teachers and students of the Department of Architectural and Urban-Planning Heritage of the SPbGASU Faculty of Architecture and the Vice-Rector for Research of our university Evgeny Korolev are taking part in the III exhibition "PROrestoration. Import Substitution in Restoration Materials and Technologies" in Moscow.

The exhibition opened on 28 November and will close on 1 December. Its program includes, in addition to master classes at the stands, a scientific conference, where 100 speakers from 22 educational institutions that train future restorers will speak. There will be professional discussions, master classes from those performing restoration work and from specialized universities, competitions for young restorers, lectures, round tables, and presentations of developments by domestic manufacturers.

"Our university is happy to be part of this large-scale project. We invite the exhibition guests to take part in the "Young Detective" quest to identify defects on various objects. During the event, we will tell you what "efflorescence" is (whitish spots covering various surfaces, including brick and concrete), name the reasons for their appearance and teach how to distinguish defects. At another master class, we will wash a fragment of the facade and tell you how to work with iconographic material, then we will select a color scheme and paint fragments of architectural elements. On the last day of the exhibition, we will offer to solve an architectural crossword puzzle and make sketches of architectural elements," said Nadezhda Akulova, PhD in Architecture, associate professor at the SPbGASU Department of Architectural and Urban-Planning Heritage.

She added that for students, participation in an event of this level allows them to improve their professional skills and communicate with industry representatives.
