SPbGASU teachers and students took part in the IV Conference on the Preservation of Cultural Heritage Sites – Monuments of Wooden Architecture, where current issues of restoration, conditions for investment in the preservation and integration of monuments of wooden architecture into the modern urban and cultural space were discussed.
This topic has always been studied by architects, and at the beginning of this year the country’s president focused on it, giving instructions on the need to preserve cultural heritage sites and involve them in economic circulation.

SPbGASU students are winners of the competition of the program "Ruble per meter"
Irina ZolotovskayaDeputy Director of the St Petersburg State Budgetary Institution "City Department of Real Estate Inventory and Valuation" (GUION) Irina Zolotovskaya spoke about the "Ruble per Meter" program, which was developed in 2019 by the Property Relations Committee and KGIOP. The program applies to objects that are in an unsatisfactory condition, are the property of the city, are not used and belong to the non-residential fund. The object is leased for 49 years, of which seven years are allocated for restoration work. If the tenant successfully carries them out within the allotted time, then the object is leased to him at a price of 1 ruble per 1 sq. m. Since last year, these objects can be bought out.
"Over five years, relevant documents have been included and prepared for 27 objects, including lease agreements for 13, and work in two was completed ahead of schedule. But investors are interested in the functionality of the objects. In order to understand what it could be, we decided to turn to young architects and offered them, as part of a competition on the assignment of KGIOP, to complete a restoration project for the objects, taking into account their possible functionality. We thank SPbGASU for their active response, excellent works, and the regional branch of the organization "Business Russia" for rewarding the participants of the competition," noted Irina Zolotovskaya.
Three groups of third-year students of the SPbGASU Department of Architectural and Urban-Planning Heritage took part in the competition. The first group was represented by Daria Kuvshinova, Elina Ostrovskaya, Daria Bogdanova, Anastasia Popova, Anastasia Kolyada, Anastasia Korshunova, Alina Lyakhovskaya, Ksenia Muratova, Alina Rusinova, Alina Shpilevaya. Supervisors: PhD of Architecture, Associate Professor Nadezhda Akulova, Assistant Anton Korolev and Assistant Alina Kulik.
"The students presented their course projects on restoration with adaptation for modern use. During two months of immersion in the object of research and restoration, the students studied the objects of protection, determined the features and values of the object and, taking into account the identified historical features of each of the designed wooden architecture objects, proposed relevant modern functions. These are traditional museums, guest houses and less traditional objects, such as small spa areas with places of privacy in nature, small educational campuses for creative individuals and a number of other interesting functions that can be seen in the projects of all three groups. These projects can form the basis for more detailed development in further design and attract the attention of investors or patrons," explained Nadezhda Akulova.
Another group consisted of Olesya Elagina, Darina Meltenisova, Olga Trusova, Sabina Ivanilova, Arina Ivanova, Maria Kuzminskaya, Viktoria Migunova, Maria Shestakova, Nikita Shestakov. Supervised by: Associate Professor Lyudmila Kaloshina and Assistant Maria Kolesova.
