SPbGASU teachers took part in the conference “Training of personnel in the field of organizational and technological design and construction management” as part of the IX International Scientific and Practical Conference of Departments of Organizational and Technological Profile of Construction Universities “Technology, Organization and Management in Construction 2023” (TOMiC-2023) at the Moscow State Construction University (NRU MGSU).

The event, held on 9–10 November, was organized by MGSU and the National Association of Designers and Surveyors (NOPRIZ). The participants were employees of departments of organizational, technological and management profiles of construction universities and technical universities.

At the plenary session, Anton Gaido, dean of the SPbGASU Faculty of Civil Engineering, head of the Department of Construction Technology, made a presentation “Features of preparing a candidate’s dissertation in scientific specialty 2.1.7.” The speaker noted the need to develop regulatory documents on training and the lack of minimum requirements for the developed competencies of graduate students; revealed a lack of methodological recommendations for formulating the purpose and objectives of the study (their number), scientific hypothesis, scientific and practical novelty, etc., including when preparing the text of a dissertation and abstract in specialty 2.1.7.

As a solution, Anton Gaido proposed preparing requirements for the qualitative and quantitative indicators of a PhD student’s research work; draw up methodological recommendations for the design of texts of abstracts and dissertations in the scientific specialty 2.1.7; conduct interuniversity webinars (recording audio or video content) on various research topics (types of scientific articles and their indexing in the RSCI, preparation and publication of articles, conducting scientific searches in modern databases, preparing presentations, using modern methods of data analysis, etc. ).

Roman Motylev, head of the Department of Construction Management, presented a report “Features of the educational process among SPbGASU master’s and PhD students”. The speaker said that according to the Statute of SPbGASU, the organization of the educational process is regulated by the educational program of the field of study (specialty) and the schedule of training sessions. The experience of using the SPbGASU distance learning system has shown that it has proven itself to be the best. Since September 2023, lectures for bachelors have been conducted face-to-face, while lectures for masters have been conducted remotely using the Microsoft Teams program, which allows you to chat with students, assessing their knowledge. Practical and laboratory classes are traditionally conducted in person. As part of the use of distance learning technologies, each leading teacher of the department has developed an original electronic training course.

At the section “Construction Projects Life Cycle Management”, Sergey Bovteev, Associate Professor at the SPbGASU Department of Construction Management, together with Marina Petrochenko, Associate Professor at the St Petersburg Polytechnic University, and Evgenia Zavodnova, senior lecturer at this university, made a report “Use of 4D modeling at the construction preparation stages".

The authors considered the use of 4D modeling in design and construction, analyzed the requirements for initial data for 4D modeling (construction schedule and 3D model of the object under construction), proposed different degrees of detail of the 4D model at different stages of the life cycle of an investment and construction project. They showed the prospects for using 4D modeling in construction organization, taking into account the need for import substitution of foreign software, analyzed the capabilities of Russian 4D modeling software products.
