Honored Scientist of Russia, DSc in Economics, Visiting Professor at the SPbGASU Department of Construction Economics and Housing and Utility Infrastructure Anatoly Asaul held a master class on compiling a family tree on 20 November.
The master class was organized for students from the Faculty of Economics and Management

Opening the meeting, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Galina Tokunova emphasized the relevance of holding it during the Year of the Family and quoted Russian President Vladimir Putin: “The family is not just the foundation of the state and society, it is a spiritual phenomenon, the foundation of morality.”
Galina Fedorovna also cited the words of the Soviet teacher and writer Anton Makarenko: “Family brings fullness of life, happiness, but each family is, first of all, a big deal of national importance.”
"Anatoly Nikolaevich is a model of perseverance, incredible diligence and grandiose achievements. Today, I will not be mistaken if I say that his works, scientific and methodological developments are familiar in all universities of the country. They are known far beyond its borders. He is in the top 20 Russian scientists," the dean introduced the professor.
At the meeting, the students learned about the traditions and values of the Asaul family, and learned about the reasons that prompted the professor to search for information about his ancestors. Anatoly Nikolaevich became interested in this search together with his wife and sons in the mid-80s of the last century. The family had a common cause – compiling the “Tree of the Asaul Family” and the “Generation List”.

"Looking into the past, we realized that human life is not just a period of time determined by dates of birth and death, but also responsibility for the continuation of our family line, passed on to us with the family name, borrowing the best examples of human actions and thoughts that belonged to members of our family. With the advent of grandchildren - and we have eight boys and five girls - came the understanding of the need to bring to the public level the memory of our ancestors, the historical awareness of our family line, responsibility for the inherited family name," shared Anatoly Nikolaevich.
According to the professor, the "Asaul Family Tree" and "Generation List" reflect the place of his large family in the history of the homeland and the people, the connection of the representatives of the family with the events that formed the historical framework of our country. These events, recorded in scientific sources, documents and photographs, are collected in the Asaul Family Museum, created in 2004.
More than 150 people listened attentively to the mentor for an hour and a half, no one left. "If at least one person present makes a Family Tree and writes the history of his family, I will consider that my talk has achieved its goal. Time will tell," he said.
