On May 17, 2016 there was held a round table discussion in project management. This event was organized by Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering together with Saint Petersburg department of the International institute of project management.

Such meetings became traditional. In addition to organizers at the round table discussion there participated representatives of Leningrad region administration, Saint Petersburg state university of information technologies, mechanics and optics and Saint Petersburg state university of passenger aviation, JSC “VISKO”, AECOM, “SPb Renovation” LLC, “Elta” LLC, Neva Business Systems, “Pallas” LLC, “Rosengineering project”, “GALS” LLC, and IT companies Rambler, Siemens, e-Legion, and ‘BK” LLC and others.

Much interest was paid by participants to report of vice-president of Saint Petersburg Department PMI Ivan Selikhovkin.

What is it project management? This is a number of rules, allowing achieving a great result. A manager has to define the parties and their interests and the way the project will influence them; what actions shall be made; which and whose requirements shall be considered, how to transform them into a concept and an hierarchy structure of works; how much time the project will take and how this period can be estimated within unclear conditions (as this is important for schedule planning and this schedule is an aspect of project management which is the most important); how much each type of works and the whole project will cost. The importance becomes even more essential in tight timing conditions and high risks. When the project is finalized, it is important to preserve the acquired knowledge and experience, which is formed as lessons learned and their own knowledge.
