On 8th September, 2017 students and employees of SPSUACE took part in a solemn mourning ceremony of putting flowers on Piskarevsky memorial cemetery, an action devoted to the Day of memory of the Siege victims.
Wreaths and flowers were put to the bottom of the monument of Mother-native land by the chairman of the council of Federation V.I.Matvienko, the plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in Northwest federal region N. N.Tsukanov, the governor of St.-Petersburg G.S.Poltavchenko and members of the government of St.-Petersburg, the chairman of Legislative Assembly of St.-Petersburg V.S.Makarov and deputies of Legislative Assembly of St.-Petersburg. Also the government and Legislative Assembly of Leningrad region, the Constitutional court of the Russian Federation, command of the Western military district and the main command of the Navy of Russia, Authorized court of St.-Petersburg, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, representatives of religious faiths, diplomatic corps, federal authorities of the Russian Federation, veterans, youth and public organizations put wreaths and flowers.
Going up the granite steps from Eternal fire, and passing the main avenue of 480 meter long, students put flowers to the monument "Mother-native land". «It’s an annual tradition, on September, 8th, the day when the ring of enemy blockade round Leningrad was closed, to come on Piskarevsky memorial cemetery to commemorate the defenders of Leningrad city», - said the director of the Center for development of student's self-management and youth initiativesAlexander Poljarush. - « Youth from different cities of the Russian Federation and other countries study in SPSUACE. And for everybody the defense of the city on the Neva is a symbol of courage and honor».
