The conference is held as part of the educational project "Innovative methodology for the formation of digital professional competencies of students and specialists in the construction industry" on the basis of the Federal Innovation Platform of SPbGASU.

The plenary session was moderated by Alina Postovalova, Deputy Director for Innovation and Education of the Research Institute of Building Physics of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, Head of the University of the Ministry of Construction, Head of the Industry Branch of Innopolis University.

Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Russia Konstantin Mikhailik addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. The speaker spoke about ensuring the technological sovereignty of the Russian construction industry, which brings together a wide variety of people: representatives of government, business, the scientific community and students who are able to put forward bold ideas.

“St Petersburg is a leader in digital modeling in construction. For the first time in Russia, a digital information model of a linear facility has received a positive conclusion from the state examination. Today in St Petersburg there are two largest systems in the country that ensure the operation of the construction complex. The first is the departmental system of the Construction Committee: the design activities of everything that is built at the expense of budget financing is managed with the help of this system. The second project is the Unified System of the Construction Complex (USCC), with the help of which all developers, resource organizations and authorities interact. Most of the workflow that accompanies the construction life cycle passes electronically through this system. In addition, today, with the help of TIM models, we are ready to start experiments with dynamic models, traffic flows, tourist flows, their interests in St Petersburg, and so on,” said Vice Governor of St Petersburg Stanislav Kazarin.

SPbGASU Rector Evgeny Rybnov said that for six years the conference on BIM-modeling has served as a space for an open dialogue between government officials, the professional community, specialized software development companies, as well as educational and scientific organizations on the use of information modeling technologies throughout their life cycle of capital construction objects. Within the framework of the conference, master classes and round tables on topical issues of information modeling are regularly held, a collection of articles is published, the materials of which are in demand by the professional and academic community, and are actively cited.

The SPbGASU Rector stressed that the need to use information modeling technologies poses a serious challenge in training personnel. At present, its solution has become a real need for construction universities - to prepare a graduate competent in information modeling.

“I want to express my gratitude to the Government of St Petersburg, partners: NOTIM, the National Association of Designers and Surveyors, ASCON, SeaSoft, the University of the Ministry of Construction for their active participation in the preparation and organization of the conference,” said Evgeny Rybnov.

Mikhail Viktorov, President of the National Association of Organizations in the Field of Information Modeling Technologies (NOTIM), Head of the Commission for Digitalization of the Construction Industry of the Public Council under the Ministry of Construction of Russia, informed about key measures to support Russian software in the construction industry. Among the proposals are use of the compensation funds of liquidated self-regulatory organizations to stimulate digitalization, in particular, to subsidize domestic software; partial reimbursement of customers' costs for the use of information modeling technologies in the design of interuniversity campuses; training of designers, customers in information modeling technologies; preparation of justification and specific proposals for changing existing regulations.

The conference will run until 21 April. Practicing specialists in the field of designing buildings and structures, heads of construction companies, researchers, as well as interested students, postgraduate students, master students and university lecturers will discuss topical issues of introducing advanced BIM technologies into practice and scientific activities in matters of construction and architecture.
