SPbGASU hosted the National (All-Russian) scientific and practical conference "Current issues of economics and management in construction". The event was prepared and hosted by the Faculty of Economics and Management. Speakers from 20 universities and other organizations took part in the conference.

In her welcoming speech, Galina Tokunova, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, emphasized the importance of construction economics: “The problems of construction and housing and communal services are of paramount importance due to the fact that they affect the life of every person. Our task is to find and scientifically substantiate such ways of solving them that would be aimed at improving the quality of life of the population.”

The community of universities that train specialists for the real sector of the economy, emphasized Oleg Kharchenko, Professor at the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law of St Petersburg State Agrarian University, a member of the organizing committee of the conference.

The program included a plenary session, which discussed the training of personnel for the construction industry, the introduction of digital technologies in the investment and construction process, the problems of the functioning of housing and communal services and other relevant aspects of the modern economy.

Yury Panibratov, Visiting Professor at the SPbGASU Department of Construction Economics and Housing and Utility Infrastructure, urged the audience to pay attention to such serious problems as high housing prices, shortage of building materials and qualified personnel.

Galina Tokunova made a presentation on the digital transformation of the construction industry and gave recommendations on improving institutional support for the development of the digital economy: it is necessary to form networks of regional centers for training and consulting on the implementation of digital technologies in construction, including on the basis of specialized universities; subsidize the acquisition of digital solutions by small and medium-sized construction organizations; provide preferential banking products for developers and homebuyers using digital technologies.

105 reports were heard in the sections "Economics of construction and housing and communal services: trends and prospects", "Current issues of management in construction", "Economic security: experience, problems, prospects", "Innovative approaches to solving economic problems". The participants considered topical issues of interaction between investment and construction activities, the introduction of digital and innovative technologies in construction, and important aspects of the economic security of business entities.

Within the section "Science in a foreign language - a step into a specialist's future", young researchers presented their reports in foreign languages. The participants of the subsection "Issues of Linguistics (language for special purposes: system, functions, environment)" considered the most productive methods of teaching a foreign language, the role and importance of a foreign language in economics, construction and architecture.
