SPbGASU held the qualifying round of the BIM championship on information modeling technologies in construction. Six teams designed a multifunctional sports complex in St Petersburg within seven working days.

The jury included teachers from our university and representatives of the project partners - the State Specialized Design Institute, ASCON, ROSEKO-Stroyproekt, Wizardsoft, KTS Project, GP-MFS, MPI Development and others. The general partner was the National Association of Surveyors and Designers (NOPRIZ).

“We carry out all our large and small undertakings with the active participation of industrial partners. They provide diversified practical training for students: this is industrial practice, internships, and the implementation of term papers and final qualifying works on the instructions of specialized organizations. They also act as professional experts at such events,” said Sergey Mikhailov, SPbGASU Vice-Rector for Academic Work.

Second-sixth-year students of various faculties of the university demonstrated solid knowledge, diverse skills, stable proficiencies, professional competencies and outstanding personal qualities that are necessary for a modern specialist in the construction industry. The places were distributed as follows.

The first place went to the BIM Innovations team, which was made up of Viktoria Potekhina (architect), Maksim Generalov and Yaroslav Barykin (designers), Vadim Koptsov (estimator), Daniil Lukanin (heating engineer), Ilya Akhmatov (ventilation engineer), Vladimir Vinogradov (water supply and sanitation engineer), Egor Zverev (power supply engineer), Irina Baidina (BIM coordinator), Viktoria Belova (construction organization project engineer).

The second place went to the Ten Friends of BIM team. It included Anastasia Gritsak (architect), Maria Dydykina and Yana Ivakina (designers), Polina Kostyuk (estimator), Veronika Bogatyreva (heating engineer), Denis Dementiev (engineer ventilation), Evgenia Borisova (water supply and sanitation engineer), Glafira Bachmanova (power supply engineer), Anastasia Slesareva (BIM coordinator), Arseniy Pogrebnoy (construction organization project engineer).

The third place went to the SkillUp team: Anastasia Fedorova (architect), Viktoria Shevchenko and Elena Boyko (designers), Aleksey Titavnin (estimator), Anna Smirnova (heating engineer), Kristina Krendeleva (ventilation engineer), Anastasia Eckert (water supply and sanitation engineer), Anastasia Bogomolova (power supply engineer), Vladimir Inozemtsev (BIM coordinator), Anastasia Babinova (construction organization project engineer).

• Yana Alferova won the Best Architect nomination. According to her, the competition fully lived up to expectations, demonstrating the importance of teamwork;
• Diana Shagiakhmetova and Viktoria Kondakova won in the nomination Best Constructor;
• Daniil Lukanin was recognized as the Best Heating Engineer;
• Denis Dementiev became the Best Ventilation Engineer;
• Evgeny Suvorov was recognized as the Best Water Supply and Sanitation Engineer. In his opinion, the championship gives an incentive to improve, to show the best results;
• Best Power Supply Engineer became Egor Zverev;
• Vadim Koptsov is the Best Estimator;
• Anastasia Babinova is the Best Construction Project Engineer;
• Irina Baidina is the Best BIM-coordinator.

Students of school No. 334 of the Nevsky district of St Petersburg became spectators of the qualifying stage of the BIM championship in 2023 as part of the cooperation of this educational institution with SPbGASU and the ASCON company to create TIM classes. More information about the project

The All-Russian stage of the BIM Championship will be held in October-November 2023. Its participants will be the winners of the qualifying rounds of universities.

"From year to year, the number of participants increases, the tasks become more complicated. Possible difficulties are normal. It is better if students learn to overcome them now, while studying at the university. This is one of the steps to achieve professional goals!” - Denis Nizhegorodtsev, Director of the SPbGASU Laboratory of Digital Information Models in Construction is sure.

SPbGASU actively implements information modeling technologies in educational, research and project activities. BIM championships aimed at developing the skills necessary for a modern designer in students have been held at our university for five years. At the same time, the competition has had an all-Russian status for four years. For three years in a row, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science has included the BIM Championship in the list of events, the winners of which are eligible to receive grants from the President of the Russian Federation.

This year's BIM championship is held as part of the innovative project "Innovative Methods for Forming Digital Professional Competences of Students and Construction Industry Specialists". The university is implementing it within the framework of its status as a federal innovation platform under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science in 2022–2026.
