SPbGASU has signed an agreement with Renga Software company and St Petersburg secondary schools No. 347, No. 334 and Lyceum No. 64 to open classes on technologies of information modeling (TIM classes). The initiative is aimed at career guidance for schoolchildren in grades 8–11, teaching them basic knowledge of TIM.

“Within the agreement, it will be possible to build an effective and mutually beneficial system of vocational training, which in the future will allow schoolchildren - to choose a profession taking into account their abilities and interests, specialized universities - to attract motivated students, industries - to reduce the shortage of personnel and replenish the staff with highly qualified specialists trained according to labour market requirements,” explained Svetlana Golovina, SPbGASU First Vice-Rector.

The relevance of opening TIM classes was confirmed by Maksim Shibanov, head of the marketing department at Renga Software. “Ten years ago, schoolchildren considered technologies of information modeling to be a complex science, and today senior pupils demonstrate a fairly high level of knowledge. This indicates their interest in the conscious choice of their future profession. We are ready to contribute to their further professional growth, training of personnel for the industry, and we believe that all parties to the agreement will soon see the expected result of joint work,” he said.

At the round table the parties of the agreement discussed all the nuances that need to be taken into account when drawing up a curriculum for TIM classes. It is assumed that the most effective option will be a two-level system of education, in which students are distributed into classes, taking into account the starting level of their knowledge. The project will be organizationally managed by the Career Guidance Center of the SPbGASU Admissions Committee. The SPbGASU Faculties of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services and the Faculty of Economics and Management will take part in developing and implementation of the curriculum.
