Umid Boltaboev, Abdurakhmon Makhmudov and Mansur Khusanov
On 20 December, a delegation from the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in St Petersburg visited the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
The delegation included the Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in St Petersburg Abdurakhmon Makhmudov, the second secretary of the consulate Umid Boltaboyev and the representative of the Agency for External Labor Migration under the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan in St Petersburg Mansur Khusanov.
At SPbGASU they were received by the First Vice-Rector Svetlana Golovina, Vice-Rector for Educational Activity Sergey Mikhailov, Head of the International Relations Division Shuaynat Akhmadulaeva and Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Andrey Nikulin. The meeting was also attended by citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who are studying and undergoing internships at our university.
Welcoming the participants of the meeting on behalf of the SPbGASU Rector Evgeny Rybnov, Svetlana Golovina congratulated everyone on the upcoming New Year and told how SPbGASU was developing cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Currently, 24 citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan are studying at SPbGASU: 17 students are studying under the bachelor's degree programs, 5 are studying under the master's degree programs, 1 is studying under the specialist's degree program, and 1 is studying under the postgraduate program. Our university successfully cooperates with three universities in Uzbekistan: since 2006 - with the Tashkent University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, since 2018 - with the Samarkand State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, since 2023 - with the Tashkent State Transport University.
According to Svetlana Gennadyevna, the most dynamic cooperation is developing with the Tashkent University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. In the spring semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, six students from TASU completed training within the framework of the academic mobility program. Three TASU students and one student from the Samarkand State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering are studying in the current semester. In October 2024, six TASU teachers completed an internship at our university. In December, seven more teachers arrived.
Representatives of SPbGASU have repeatedly visited Uzbekistan, held talks with the management of universities, participated in exhibitions and conferences. In April of this year, during the official visit of our delegation to the Samarkand State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, a new memorandum of understanding was signed.
In his response, Abdurakhmon Makhmudov noted that Russia and Uzbekistan are strengthening contacts at the level of their leaders, and this gives impetus to the further development of cooperation in various areas. The Consul General reported on the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to our city on 5-6 December, led by the khokim (mayor) of Tashkent Shavkat Umurzakov. Together with the Governor of St Petersburg Alexander Beglov, the delegation members signed a memorandum of intent on the construction of the "St Petersburg Quarter" in the city of New Tashkent. Abdurakhmon Makhmudov invited SPbGASU graduates to participate in an open competition to develop a design project for this quarter.
The delegation members talked to their compatriots studying at SPbGASU, reminding them of the need to comply with the migration laws of the two countries. They also visited the rare book room at the SPbGASU Scientific and Technical Library.
